its a fun idea for like 5 minutes. runes in the hands of a skilled player make them unstoppable. if they gave you a power-up for like 30 seconds, that would be different. i think that they make good players better and scare off the unskilled.

Runes can both help and hurt new players. If newbie gets his hands on a rune, he will stand a better chance against a pro, however if pro gets a rune it is a whole different story. I personally think we should not enable runes, as it will scare off newbies (a lot of them leave after they get killed like 2 times). However, there is no definite answer whether runes will be enabled or disabled, hence why snooch started this poll.

Runes were one of the reasons i downloaded ctf in the first place. But after a while they just got boring and I don't really like them anymore.  TripleBam wrote:I was about to correct something but....no...it's all there.

If you take off the runes of the ctf mod all it is then is dm. If you take it off tomb should go back on dm for the ctf maps and crypt should have dm maps like it was set up a long time ago. And if a rune gets in a skilled players hands kill them or get better so you can. I say for now we keep them off to get more people interested in ctf then we can go from there! That way nobody has an unfair advantage! Plus there are no runes in the scrims!

I don't think flaming will get you anywhere... Regardless, I made a little script to run on server (EventScript). Players can vote by say commands, "vote_runes_yes" and "vote_runes_no", simple as that... For now though, I say runes stay off for first week while the vote is going. But newbies that play nowadays, if they can't kill someone or get killed repeatedly they just leave. They don't want to stick around to get killed 10 times in 1 minute. That is why people are voting against runes. Although it would be nice if all people who voted for runes, showed up on server.

im not tring to flame anyone. Im trying to get across is that its not just the runes that can make a game 1 sided. if one side as all props and noobs on hte other side would do it also. But i have not really played a game were 1 team had all the runes and the other team didnt. It can happen, im not saying it wont but it not like it will have all the time either, and once the noobs play the maps and learn were the runes are it will make it more fun, and if poeple help the noobs and show them were stuff is and how to do stuff it will bring them up from being a noob.
