This is actually VON on N3rd's account.
Not sure whether this is an error or a success, but I got it upon changing options in Vista's CP.

did your program crash then you got that message? or do you think its possible that their programmers just goofed and labeled that an error instead of a status message?

Nah he installed some program and then i believe he went to launch it and got that error. Or he installed it and reboot and then that popped up. Either way, needless to say we were laughing pretty hard when that came up. I believe he has another one that says.... "something bad happened" I shit you not, it says those exact words.

Yeah I have had plenty of errors after installing Vista Ultimate 64-bit. However I think most of the problems that I have run in to are from having 64 bit rather than Vista alone. Vista itself actually feels great. I just would recommend waiting on the 64 bit editions unless you want to spend a good bit of time working around the bugs it comes with. A couple examples:
Acrobat Reader 8.0 will not install. I had to find an earlier version, 4.0, that actually worked.
So far as I have noticed, many or most antivirus and internet protection suites will not work properly; either not installing or not working after the install. I had previously used Trend Micro 2006, and it will not work. I was quite amazed, not in a good way, when Microsoft's OWN LiveCare One would not work and is not supported with any 64 bit versions of Windows. Anyway, I now have Trend Micro 2007 (the demo version for now, trying it out). If anyone has recommendations I am willing to listen to them, lol.
I have always used the included Nero Burning OEM Suite that comes with most burners and new computers. The 6.0 version I have also will not work. It installed, but closes with an error after trying to choose a burn option.
I have a G15 Logitech keyboard with the LCD display. The display supports open source modding and simple applications. While 4 of the 5 bundled apps will still work on the display, I have yet to be able to get any 3rd party or self created mods to work.
Transfering files over the network between all my other computers (currently running Windows XP Pro) has become so slow, that it is actually speedier and less stressful to simply make a disk real quick of the files wanting to be transfered. Maybe this is a simple setting or security block I am missing somewhere, but it is not like it is halted completely, only drastically slowed.
Another one that surprised me was that the bundled drivers and applications that came with my motherboard for the most part would not work. I have an 680i nVidia chipset motherboard. You would think they would include drivers and such that would work with a 64 bit system, but I guess not. I ended up manually downloading most of what I needed from the internet. Granted, Windows installed it's own as usual, but where is the fun if you cannot customize all the settings exactly as you want them? Especially for overclocking
After installing Vista and getting it up and running for the first time, everything ran great. There are however many programs that will take patience and tinkering to get them to work, if you can get them to work at all.

Another fine piece of shit from Microsoft. Hell they might as well call themselves "STEAM." Dick Cheney's Mechanical Heart wrote:I wish I had some vicodin, it's been a long time. I remember the first time I took some vicodin for fun, it was like my whole body was a dick and god was blowing me.

lol well now Steam wasn't THAT bad. Okay close, but you would expect a lot more from software that retails for $399 + tax.

Not only that, but from software they have taken years to make and delayed it for a year or more to fix stuff! Sheesh.

KYFHO wrote:Another fine piece of shit from Microsoft. Hell they might as well call themselves "STEAM." fuck that. as much as most people hate microsoft, i don't have a problem with them. their updates fix their software not break it. the difference is that steam creates a decent product, then slowly destroys it with pointless updates that slowly corrupt the product over time. microsoft simply releases a buggy program from the beginning and slowly but surely fixes the problems and makes it better. steam did such a good job on their last update that i can only use it on one of my computers. i have never had any of microsoft's products blow up on me like that (at least nothing that a clean load wouldn't fix). i can't even get steam to run after i reload my computer, what a load. they said they made a program that will gather all the info on my computer and send it to them so they can figure out why so many people can't run steam after the last update. idiots, i swear they better get this fixed soon because i can't even get into offline mode because it can't load up. like i said, at least microsoft has good updates.
