I dont know whether its with the new xfire featue or what...but im crashing each time I try to play. some of the errors include "failed to lock index buffer" and "Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present ( )"

does anyone know how to fix those problems?

also, it may have to do with the amount of processes im running...but i have no idea on which of them i can close and wont cause a problem.

thanks for any help

have you tried re-installing DX9? Usually when an error mentions it, reinstalling it will fix it. If not, then reinstalling the vid card drivers will do it.

As far as processes running go, it doesn't hurt to experiment - try force quitting some and see what happens, you'll learn quick what is needed. Generally, most things launched under your user name can be killed without issue, things under system or network service are more likely to cause trouble. Most of that shit doesn't use a lot of resources though, or it shouldn't - leave task manager open and watch what's going on - most shit barely uses a meg or 2 of memory and less than 1% of the CPU - there aren't a lot of gains to be made, you're better off just shutting down common apps like Firefox before you begin gaming, even then it doesn't make much of a difference unless your system is pretty slow. Other things to do: Check your start up folder and see what crap is being loaded there, run a spyware scan to clean any of that shit that gets launched at start.  The biggest performance boost from turning something off: AV software. That shit sucks resources like nothing else.

thanks for the insight

however, i ran the DX diagnostic tests and it repetidly failed when i was using the correct resolution for an LCD monitor ( something like 1024 x something)

when i changed the resolution to 800 x 600..it works perfectly..at least in the tests. But with this resolution on a LCD screen, it distorts everything.

as for updating the vid card drivers...i have no clue on that matter. all i know is that i have a radeonX300 SE video card by ATI. i tried updating the driver at the company website..but I need to have the version 2.0 of the Catalyst driver thing...but i don't see where to download that.

that is really weird. I would recommend going to the website of whoever made your specific card and seeing what they have available.

sorry about double post and the very small pic...but if you can tell, it says: the minimum .NET framework version required is 2.0. Please install before launching application.

OH!!! You need .net 2.0 installed, you can get that from windows update. if you're running a non-genuine install let me know and I'll track down a standalone installer.
