A note on our poor performance in recent matches, lack of clan participation, and general shittiness:

It seems that this clan is very unwilling to participate in practices for the purposes of preparing for the league matches that are currently ongoing. As a result, {pDs} is in 6th place of the tournament right now, after four matches. We have lost to zen, RR, and RS, with RR and RS being supposedly very easy teams to beat. In fact, the only teams below us in rankings are RR, Elite, Czetax, and fc.

There is not much else I can say that Nite, J-Town, or myself have not said or posted already, but the results of the past three matches and the lack of participation on the part of the clan as a whole is extremely disappointing. Extenuating circumstances aside, we have tried our best to schedule practice times that would allow at least 10 members to attend. However, the highest number of practice attendees was perhaps around six or so. Rarely are we even able to set our five-member team for a particular week's match until the day of the match itself.

Personally, I want to see some change in the attitudes of players within this clan with respect to willingness to try new mods. I myself gave CTF a chance when the Tomb first changed to CTF, even before I became a member of this clan. Although this may seem harsh, it is the stubbornness of certain players that may eventually lead to the death of this mod. Our clan participates in primarily CTF, DM, and DOD:S. I play two of these mods myself; I do not own DOD at the moment but I may someday, perhaps over the summer. All of our CTF players at least play DM once in a while, and if simply the reverse occurred we could increase our clan participation in CTF greatly.

<Begin real rant>
Honestly, it is not only disappointing but also completely disheartening to see that a clan with 50 members listed on its active roster cannot field at least ten members on a regular basis. Why is it that we have 15 members listed on our team for MyGamingLeague.com when several of these players even refuse to learn the basic techniques necessary for us to stand a chance at winning or have never even showed up to practice? Yes, I'm referring specifically to elDiablos (DI) and Superpants. I hope the two of you will read this post and respond as well.

In terms of the amount of time put into training this clan, Nite, J-Town, and I have spent countless hours waiting on empty practice servers wondering if anyone will ever show up for practice. I don't have that kind of time on my hands, and neither to Nite or J-Town. For one, saying that you will show up to practice and then staying only a couple minutes is not only a pain in the ass for those of us trying to practice, it's also downright disrespectful. I am sick and tired of putting so much time into setting up practices and organizing all of the logistics needed such as putting up a TS server, especially when the return is so little. Nite has also contributed so much to this clan, among his many endeavors graciously hosting a practice server for us. As for J-Town, every practice he can make he has always been there, which is essentially every practice that has been held so far except three.

There is a certain amount of dedication necessary to make a clan successful. So far, I have seen very little of that dedication from the majority of the members of this clan. The most stubborn of the older members downright refuse to participate in the CTF mod at all, and under what pretenses? That they don't own Half-Life 2 and are too cheap, lazy, or poor to buy it? None of those three excuses are particularly viable. Laziness is exactly what has led this clan into a state of apathy about matches. If you are too cheap and poor, how do you expect to support this community and the clan as a whole? WDF cannot run this entire community and all the servers alone, and the current rate of donations cannot necessarily sustain three servers for very long.

On the subject of servers, I would like to see some possible explanations, or excuses I would call them, as to why there are fewer than six {pDs} members who seem to visit the Tomb regularly. Just answer this question for me: Why are you willing to go to the Crypt or Trench Foot but not the Tomb? In regards to answers, I don't want any smart aleck or bullshit responses; my temper is running short regarding this matter.

With regards to our members who have recently been a bit less active than we would have hoped, I know that many of you are hard at work a lot of the time, but I hope that you can at least give us some sense of possible time contributions to the league team as well as populating the Tomb when possible. Even a bit of estimation would be helpful with regards to scheduling matters.

To be frank, the lack of discipline in this clan is starting to erode what faith I once had. The ILDM ended up pretty horribly for this clan in DM. The ILDM HL2CTF was similarly disorganized on our clan's part, in terms of readying players for matches. After the disaster of ILDM CTF, and the announcement of the HL2CTF 5v5 tournament, I gained new hope. With a quick victory over Elite in the preseason and 1st round games, I began to think we actually might have a shot at ending up in a decent position. But as the season has gone on, it seems that many members have become either overconfident or disillusioned by the easy victories over Elite.

Inherently, it is already obvious that our individual player skill on average is much lower than that of other clan's members. However, the fact that we do not practice enough together and have poor teamwork is a multiplier that easily puts us behind most of our competitors. Not only must we improve our individual skills such as aim, speed, and weapon choice, but we also must also utilize teamwork to pass the flag more effectively. Admittedly, although Elite were easy opponents, our team exhibited very good flag passing during those two matches. Why then could we not keep that up throughout the next three matches?

However, this it not a time to speculate on the details of teamwork; that is what practice is for. Instead, I would simply like to point out the obvious: This clan is too laid-back. Yes, we may be a community, but simply because we use a tag in front of our handles does not make us a clan. It is practice and dedication that will raise this clan's reputation, and all of our members must help to make this possible. The Crypt was once the number 1 HL2DM server. With the support of all of our active members, we can bring the Crypt back to number 1, and also the Tomb to number 1 status in HL2CTF as well, and maybe even the Trench Foot to number 1 in DOD:S.

On another note, get off Ogame and get back into CTF, DM, and DOD:S. Seriously. We need all the help we can get.

I appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and responses to this thread...I don't want any bullshit or blatantly obtuse replies.

First of all it is you're and second of all, no he is not hasty. Right now this clan is a bit too laid back. ILDM HL2CTF was a disaster now it is repeating itself in HL2CTF league (well somewhat). We have a roster of nearly 100 people yet only like 15~30% are active? That makes no sense to me. Why keep them on roster?

I too would like to see this clan get into more shape than it is in now. With that said, I agree with what Elf said.

its usually hard to get practices with more then the regular hard core ppl to a game. DoD practices are just as hard to fill as any other game. Only reason I dont play hl2dm is cause i just dont like the game to begin with. I only got it for CS. with nearly 3 months downtime of servers kinda got to most of us. now that we got the servers up and running its abit hard to get back in the rythm

Well, we may as well set Nite's baseball map or the raceway one as our map choice, because at this rate those are the only maps we will win on.

I too would like to see this clan get into more shape than it is now. With that said, I agree with what Elf said.

People have lives other than playing hle dm ctf all the time, or they dont have the time to do that. A lot of people are playing other games because thry are tired of play hl2 gm, ctf. Its just a game when did we start care what other people think about us? the reason that the other clans are so good, is because most of the members that are 12-16 that have no lifes no friends and play on online games all day, and dont do any homework and will end up never leaveing there school, mopping the floors for the rest of there lifes, then what has beeting people online got them nothing. Maybe before you sign-up for matches and stuff see who wants to do it and make a list.

I dont understand we people in this clan compare this clan and the memebers to other clans and there members. so we lose a match or to big deal at the end of the day its still a game and when people stop playing the game and go onto real life, they dont think oh man i lost and got owned, becuase it dont matter.

We have a roster of nearly 100 people yet only like 15~30% are active? That makes no sense to me. Why keep them on roster?

Because when you join pds you dont get kicked for being gone.Once your pds you are pds for life the only way out is death, or clan vote to kick you.

Now with all that siad. Im not saying people should not get on the servers and play and get us back to #1 again, and make all the other clans jelous, but saying people have to sign-up and show up will not get you people wanting to. Its suppose to be fun but when you start ranting because poeple are not doing what you want, it kinda sucks the fun out of it. Yes some of the clan went inactive because the servers were down and it will take some time for them to come back. Now i keep hearing that there are people playing on the servers but not alot of pds, maybe we should change that. We use to get people to join, maybe we should start doing that again? something to think about. And when we start getting new pds members, just maybe it will bring some of the other members out of hiding.

Interesting. Dude just because I do not want to get ctf you are calling me lazy.

Second of all if  you look at this clan and most of the new members in it they joined because of fun. Not because of skill. We are laid back clan because it is fun. I already tried to get this clan to take DM competition more seriously but nothing happened. So I gave up and just started just not care. Sorry bro but you will not get people on your side if you are going to call them lazy. Just because I am laid back and not into gaming as much as I used to be does not mean I am lazy. I have a life outside of games. You don't know anything about us older members beside that we do not play ctf and yet  you call us lazy. So I play when I can and I want to support the main game that this clan populates which is DM. So I am supporting this clan. Dude stop trying to get your way through jerk tactics. We used to  have a blast on DM but this clan is all about having fun and making people laugh after work or class.

lazy ?!?!?!?!

I am here to have fun and play the games i like. I dont need to tell anyone why i dont like playing on the tomb. Like Whitey said most of the ppl (not only the new members) joined the clan to having fun and not because of skills. Most of us have a real live and a family especially most of the older members. I remember the old times when nobody took care about a lost  match. We always were a fun loving clan where no one took care about skills or no skills.

exactly (responding the white and lady).

i think the reason there are so many people on the roster and so few people playing ctf is that very few people have the game.  we have members that only play css and dod.  then there are members that play hl2dm and can't play ctf because they don't have the game.

if you thought we were a competitive clan, you were mistaken.  that doesn't mean we can't take place in competitions and do well.  what i'm saying is that you shouldn't get all bent out of shape if hl2 isn't the #1 priority in our lives.  we have a fair number of players that have a decent amount of skill.  but most of the members of this clan are older and have lives.  people play when they have time.

If it helps, I can pester leg and some of the other dsmbrd members and we can practice with you guys sometime soon:  you guys play us this next weekend anyway and we need to get into the habit of holding formal practices rather than group playing sessions.  I would have to check with the other members and see if they are willing and able to do this, but I personally can always drop in and practice with you guys when you have them.

I think the bottom line is that pDs is about having a good time and being relaxed with eachother, thats it.  I didn't leave because of this reason, but it was something I noticed.  If people want to compete they should play by themselves or with another clan, but I know that I can always drop by the different pDs servers for fun gaming experiences because of the settings and the atmosphere, which is a nice break from serious and unmodded servers.  I love unmodded, but pDs also lets me have fun with some server tweaks and such.

Anyway, let me know when you guys practice and I can see about getting my team in there with you for a bit.

WARNING!
Times mentioned in the above post are stated in WHUT time... which is not the time normal humans are accustomed. Whut time is relative. Today is defined as whenever Whut happens to get a bug up his ass and thinks he is gotten sorta of close to being in the mood. The actual real life timeframe for these occurences is unknown at this time. Sometimes it happens more than once in a day and during other periods it would be more like for hell to freeze over than anything actuallly getting done. Currently we are in a time frame where it would seem that there would be more of a chance of Dragon getting a girlfriend as far fetched as that might be than there would be of anything actually happening here.

You just proved his point.

I agree with Elf, though I don't think being quite as harsh is the proper way to handle this. I can understand the tempers flaring and all that good stuff.

Here's what's up. I think the problem here is the practice set-up. Remember my practices? I would make a new post (so it was fresh in everyones mind) and post a sign-up sheet. People would then sign up. This way we could tell who was committed to the practice.

Those who commit and decline to show up get punished unless there are extreme circumstances preventing them from showing up. Punishments would include not being able to participate in the following week's clan activities. This includes:

Official Practices

Fun Practices

Goofy private clan games

After a while the fact that you aren't allowed to come play with us for a week gets people to either not sign up or show the fuck up if they commit.

Also: I am getting a dedicated teamspeak server going. We will require the admins and clan members to be in it during their time online. This will help solve communication issues.

I had finals and papers for the last couple weeks, but I'm free now. I will be hosting weekly DoD practices and attending at least once a week CTF practice for support purposes only. I hope that with my presence I can attract some of the less than active clan memvers.

Finally I think the biggest issue here is our lack of recruitment. Ok, so the current members are lazy and uninterested... fuck em. Time to move onto some fresh meat. This community NEEDS members. More members = More gamers for server games!

Wanna do your part to help WDFNews.com? Go on a recruitment drive. Go to full servers in all three games and advertise us. Advertise our clan. Recruit members. If we can't get members locally to help, time to acquire some new ones.

The more members you recruit, the better off we'll be. It is everyone's responsibility to recruit members. If you aren't actively recruiting, you're actively failing your community.

So, with that said, I will be helping get shit flowing again. However, we must remember that we were down for a long time and it'll take a bit to get us back on our feet. I will let everyone know when our TS server is running.

So there, suckers. I will be getting my weekly Thursday practices DoD practices going again.

I am going to be strict as hell when it comes to signing up and missing practices. This is a fun clan. If you want to strictly play for fun, then don't sign up. If you want to help with our competitive side, then please sign up, but only if you can really show up. Excuses like "Oh man I forgot and instead went out with my friends" is not going to fly anymore.

Whut, thank you for posting. Hopefully these new regulations you will implement will help Also, I appreciate you helping to get us a dedicated Teamspeak server as well.
