nah, you can see a rope alright, it looks to me like they vastly overestimated the distance. i've heard some horror stories about bungee jumping though alright, most about eye related injuries, a jump can go perfect and you still lose your sight. yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

Okay, I timed the fall. It was about 2.63 seconds. v = gt v = (9.8 m/s) * (2.63 s) v = 25.8 m/s, Velocity at the time just before impact. 82 feet per second or about 56 mph. ---- h = (1/2) * g * (t^2) h = 33.9 m, height of bridge ---- Assume guy weighed 190 lbs. = 86.16 kg F = m *((Dv)/(Dt)), which is the change in velocity over the time required to change it, equals the force of impact. Which means, he falls, reaches 56 mph and then he stops. He goes from 56 mph to 0 mph, or a change of 56 mph. Let's say he stops in one-tenth of a second, or .1 sec. And, a conversion factor of .0455 to convert the answer to something understandable taken from this website HERE.F = (190 lbs.) * ((56 mph)/(.1s)) * (.0455) = 4841.2 lbs. ---- My friend lost his spleen when, while drunk, tried to jump a curb with his bike. He ended up misjudging it and smacked the tire against the curb, which turned the handlebars and then he smacked the handlebars. He may have been going like five miles an hour. He was falling for less than 3 seconds. The drag would be negligible. And he jumped out. His initial velocity is still zero. There was no vertical component. He jumped out, away from the bridge. He started falling immediately in the vertical vector component, Vy, but that was Vyt. Whatever happens in the horizontal vector component, Vy, has no affect on the equation. Vy0 = 0. For him to have had any vertical vector component he would have had to have been moving before he passed the starting point.
