FYI, My computer crashed over the weekend and I can't load Steam anymore. When I try to reinstall it tells me steam is running, and when I try and remove it, it won't let me.  I probably will need to take it in and have it worked on.  So no more easy targets for a while.

I think it's worse than that.  I've killed the process and even tried removing the program(I removed Steam and all of the associated files) and it always gives me a fatal error message when I try to use the uninstall program.

When I try to reinstall Steam, I get a "Steam already running error", funny Steam isn't on my computer.

Last night C&C3 started crashing in single player mode, something with directx, so I used a utility to check directx and it said it was ok. I reloaded/reinstalled the video and sound card drivers anyway.

And yes, I have checked the Registry and checked for viruses and spy ware.

Like I said, I think I'm screwed.

yes sir.  if it weren't for the fact that it takes 2 days to download all the windows updates after a reload i would do that every time i have a problem.

I think i found a better way.  CTL +F11 at boot up brings up a restore page on some dell computers. It's a hidden area on your drive that when activated, brings your computer back to the point when you first received it.  I tried it, so far it's working.  Fingers crossed

Thats what i did with my comp Tp!

it allows you to have restore points also, so if u have a problem on the puter you can go back to when it was ok before the error!!

Yeah that worked.  Llenta wasn't kidding about the Windows updates, 78 of them. Oh btw llenta, my ten year old daughter thinks you're "the coolest player ever".  Back in action.
