I am unfamiliar on how the map vote works but a few suggestions for the hell of it. I was skeptical that it worked but it does. Is there anyway you can extend the time on the voting because at times it goes to quick to have any impact. Sometimes I miss it, but usually dont. Another suggestion would be limiting the amount of choices on the vote to help further utilize the vote.
Maybe have 2 DM and 2 CTF as options or whutever.
If the time can be extended that would be prob the biggest impact. Maybe have it so you can vote anytime thru out the game, or have it so the vote time clock is centered on teh screen to draw more attention.
How is set up now anyhow? How many votes are needed to succeed...is it 51%? or like 2/3 or something?

i think that it requires too many votes for a map to win. whenever there are more then 10 people on the server, i rarely see a map vote win because it requires so many votes for a single map.

i think this is how it works: 50% of the players on must vote to make the vote valid... apart from that the map that wins is the one with the highest count... so if 10 people vote a different map and 2 vote for one it wins (i think). i think that way is fair... i just think that the voting thing should pop up automatically to make people vote, instead of this type vote, press esc nonsense... besides if it happenes to everyone at the same time its not going to get anybody killed... Whutters?!?!? yeah, i'm a cranky 'oul fucker. deal with it.

Right now voting starts 3 mins before the end of the map. CHarcoal nailed the formula pretty much.
I can change when the vote occurs, I'm just not sure if it will extend the voting duration. I will add a sound to inform people that a vote is happening though. Also, there is no way to center it in hl2mp. It randomly grabs a handful of maps from the mapcycle.txt... so I'll narrow down the choices.

Oh this should be great...I can only imagine whut could be used....

Yea see I wasnt sure how the voting worked so I thought by lowering the choices it would be easier for a vote to go thru. I was thinking that a particular map needed the 50% vote in order to work, but from the previous explanation Im guessin it doesnt. So any map will work just as long as 50 or 51% people on the server vote.
Quote:IE.
24 People on
13 VOTE
4 Vote 2fort
3 Vote Defrost Football
3 Vote Bedroom Warfare
2 Vote Lego
1 Vote Melee
So then 2fort would win the vote because more than 50% of people voted and that had the highest.
I didnt know if it was like this
Quote:IE.
24 People on
13 VOTE
13 Vote 2fort
I maybe thought that for a particular map to win IT needed 51% or so.
So if thats the case the amount of choices shown doesnt really matter, its the map vote which needs participation...
Well im out of here at 4:30 EST...have to check it out when I get home...

I've now changed it to pull maps from a seperate files so the mapcycle won't have to contain less popular maps, but people will still be able to vote for some of their dm favorites, etc.

If everyone starts voting and we all really want the nextmap maybe somehow "None of These" option when you vote that would bring you to the next map in cycle....
