The book series were good, they had a much better origin/back story, but overall I think the storyline in the movie was better. The whole thing with Carlos the Jackal was.. meh.

But Carlos was such a big part of the story, the movie seemed empty without him (to me). He kept Bourne moving, and served as his motivation. Im not saying that i didnt like the movie, though. He hooks up with the girl from Run Lola Run in the first movie, they move to India in between the first and second movie, trying to settle down and hide from the gov't, but they get chased down by some assassins and she dies.
