easier way:
DL This, of course you want the english version. its a program that accesses the files inside the game. this includes all models/sounds/materials/everything you will see in hl2. once you dl it, go to Steam\SteamApps, and you will see a .gcf file for all the games you have. double click hl2 and take anything you want.
