This is part two... part one happened last night and I didn't save it.
James(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:03:37 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Freezing, pixelating, audio cutting out.
analyst Keith has entered room
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:05:23 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Hello James_, Thank you for contacting Comcast Live Chat Support. My name is Keith. Please give me one moment to review your information.
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:05:24 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
How may I assist you with your cable TV service today?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:06:32 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I'd like to hope you could fix it
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:06:56 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I contacted support last night, as I do every two to three months or so to complain about the freezing, pixelating, loss of audio
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:07:15 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
And as of late, losing half of an entire program on the DVR mid show
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:06:24 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
One moment.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:07:20 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Just jumps to the end of the show
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:06:53 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Is the problem on the dvr or on the tv channels?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:07:57 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Both
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:08:06 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I think we've swapped out a total of 4 or 5 boxes
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:08:28 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Somethings wrong with the signal
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:07:45 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I have reset your cable box if your problem persists after 30 minutes please chat back and we will set up a trouble call to have a tech visit your address to check your cable equipment.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:08:49 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
No, we did this last night
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:09:01 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
The problem persisted.
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:08:27 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Do you want a service call?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:09:38 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I want a supervisor from comcast, not a third-party contractor
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:09:08 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
There are no supervisors available at this time.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:10:07 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
That's not what I was told last night.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:10:20 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I was told if I wanted a supervisor could be scheduled to come out.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:10:39 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
There have to be logs
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:10:09 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Ok to schedule that type of a call you will have to contact your local market and make this request.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:11:34 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Why is it that the woman I spoke with last night was capable of making that kind of schedule
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:11:38 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
But you aren't?
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:11:16 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I am in the national call center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:12:37 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
You guys are spread out?
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:12:01 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Yes.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:12:56 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Some sort of lottery of tech support?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:13:24 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I know it isn't your fault, but wow.
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:12:45 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Tes unfortunately. If I was in the States I would have different access.
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:12:54 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
tes=Yes*+
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:14:01 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Gotta love the comcast
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:14:20 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Well, you have a nice night, I'll... spin the wheel of service again
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:13:35 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Yep power of the monopoly.
Keith(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:13:51 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
It was a pleasure to assist you tonight. Good bye and have a great night.
Stay tuned as I try and fail to book a supervisor!

Round 2... FIGHT! This one started as humorous for me... and then turned... not funny at all... not to mention how uninteresting this fuck was. james(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:27:39 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Freezing, pixelating, loss of sound, DVR losing half an episode, lions, tigers, bears, oh my!
analyst Chris.18156 has entered room

I would be happy to assist you today.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:34:43 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
And I am happy to be assisted
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:34:51 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
You aren't in Canada, by chance?
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:34:23 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I am actually. Near Toronto.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:36:36 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Dang... I'm 0/2 playing the tech support lottery. I'm trying to have a supervisor come out and inspect a cable service that hasn't worked right in two years. However, as I was told just a second ago, Canadian support doesn't have the same access as US support
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:36:51 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
But last night, I could book a supervisor. It's all so confusing
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:37:26 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
What do you recommend I do?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:37:39 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
See, I want a supervisor, because the third party contractors lie to me.
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:37:52 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I can write on the work order that this has been an ongoing problem and a supervisor is requested.
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:37:58 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
May I please have the last four digits of the Social Security Number on the account?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:39:04 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
xxxx
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:39:28 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Thank you.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:40:40 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Now, since it's become an unfortunate tradition to contact comcast support every two to three months to fix the same problem, what is the likelyhood that supervisor will actually show up? The problem I'm having is that every time I request anything, and I've requested this before, they either don't bring the right equipment, and.or I've never received said supervisor
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:39:47 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Has the DVR been replaced before, and you have the same problem?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:40:48 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
About 4-5 times
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:41:12 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Each one has been swapped at least twice... I think one of them three times
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:42:17 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I'd suspect it to be a weak signal issue... but the contractors who showed up two times ago informed me that my signal was unusually strong.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:42:32 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Of course they deduced this by standing in my back yard behind a tree and smoking
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:42:29 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Does this sound alright then? repeat TC, many reception problems, dvr swapped multiple times, do not send contract tech, send supervisor tech.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:43:40 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
That sounds great, yes
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:43:48 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Please confirm the phone number you would liek the technician to call.
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:43:51 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Please excuse my typo.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:45:07 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
xxx-xxx-xxxx
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:45:46 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
The next available time I have to send a technician is Friday at 8am-12pm. Do you want that appointment?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:46:40 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
May I ask why you can book me a supervisor, but the tech I spoke to before you couldn't?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:47:01 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I work mornings, is there something in the afternoon in the next few weeks?
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:47:01 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I can request a supervisor come out, but I can not guarantee that one will come. I wrote the comments to be as serious as I can make it. Yes we do appreciate you as a customer, and I will do what I can for you.
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:47:21 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I have 2pm-6pm open for Friday, will that work?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:48:16 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I hear that. I know you aren't responsible for the mess that is Comcast
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:48:28 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Yeah, I should be back in that window
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:49:06 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
The appointment has been booked.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:50:08 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I appreciate it.
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:49:19 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I have one question James.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:50:14 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Ok
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:49:49 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Is xxx-xxx-xxxx an old number? I can change it to xxx-xxx-xxxx on your account if it is.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:50:55 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I've never seen that number... ever
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:51:15 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Why would that be on my account?
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:50:29 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I will make the correction right now.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:51:43 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I mean I've had the same number forever... and have been a customer for two years or so
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:51:56 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
The fact that there's a number I've never seen on my account is troubling
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:51:30 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
I have corrected the number.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:52:37 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Right, thanks... what would cause the wrong number to be there?
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:52:16 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Another agent must have entered the wrong number.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:53:49 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Should I be concerned? Would comcast have ever attempted to contact me via that number with potentially compromising information?
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:54:33 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Comcast would not call and give out information. We confirm the account holder is who we are speaking to if an agent ever does need to call.
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:56:02 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Alright, thanks for your help.
Chris.18156(Thu Sep 27 2007 02:55:16 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>
Is there anything else I can assist you with?
James_(Wed Sep 26 2007 23:56:20 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

Yeah... it's never going to get fixed now... I just figure for the money I spend I might as well make them earn it by putting up with me. I had one installer be straight with me and told me this is as good as it gets... Love i My favorite part of part two is that the number on my account is... a number I've never seen.. and that the story of the comcast techs troubleshooting my signal strength by sneaking a smoke break and then lying to me is true.

Yea, i've got comcast too. Their service is pretty shakey at times, and their customer service rarely does anything useful. But hey, at least i don't get Canadians when i call.. Bike wrote:I like to make werewolf movies.

Welcome to the COMCASM I've had an ongoing issue with my internet connection for about a year now. It all started when a tree fell down and knocked my neighbors connection right off the pole. Mine survived, but since then has had this weird thing where my outbound packets all drop for a few seconds, then it all comes back. On a VOIP phone this translates into "I can hear you but you can't hear me", in games this translates into "I can see you kill me but I cant move". It gets worse sometimes, it gets better sometimes, it never goes away for more than a day and most of the time it happens a few times per hour. Comcast claims everything is hunky dory and the problem must be with my equipment. Which has all been tested and retested by me, and I also have replaced various things. If you plug something straight into THEIR modem and it has the problem then the problem is at our behind THEIR modem, i.e. it's their problem and not mine. Once they found a slightly damaged cable and claimed THAT was the source of the problem and billed me $40 to cut the cable and re-terminate it. Which didnt solve shit, but provides a nice excuse to say the problem is all mine. Every person they have ever sent has been pretty fucking clueless. Once you have fallen into the Comcasm there is no escape. You either terminate service, waste a fuckload of time beating your head against their support department forever, or give up and accept that it sucks shit. Since they are monopolist fucks the last option is actually the least bad if you want teh intarwebs or a teevee. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.
