I may be new to these forums, but I play quite a lot of TF2, and on the Tempest servers on an increasingly frequent basis. I would be happy to serve as an admin on either the Official Map or 24/7 2fort server, and consider myself to be both responsible, articulate, and a decent enough player (top 25% on most rounds, unless it's with scout or spy).

Please let me know if I need to get in contact with someone specifically about it, but I welcome any questions as to my qualifications or commitment to helping run a quality game.

Thanks,

endyss [GwDR]

(p.s., endyss is my Steam ID, so feel free to contact me on there as well.)

welcome,

new admins come down to a private vote of existing admins, but with ultimate approval and activation on WDF? shoulders. as a die not, have you had experience adminning other servers before?

it's good to see more people taking an active interest in the community, thanks for stopping by. we'll definitely consider you're request.

Welcome to the forums!

I will hold a vote for it tonight or tomorrow. How much have you played on the tempest servers?

I've hosted plenty of small servers over the years, and more than anything I know what to look for, when to use and when not to use the admin powers. The whole point of having an admin in a game is to make sure everyone is having fun and no one is breaking the rules, so I'd advocate that empowering anyone you know to be mature and observant helps make for a better game for everyone.

So please consider my offer to serve, and either way I look forward to fighting with (and against) your clan for a long time.

Admittedly it is fairly recently that I have begun playing on the Tempest servers with any regularity.  Off and on since release, but it wasn't until a few days ago that I realized how reliable (both in terms of connection and clientele) they were.

Since then I've tried to frequent both servers #1 and #2 (not a fan of the non-official maps at this point), and was quite proud to be ranked third overall last night (just below my faithful medic, Intel, who only beat me out because he'd die less often by standing behind me), and apparently 39th in Total Ranking.  Wow, clan [GwDR] is #2 just below {pDs} (though admittedly your lead over us is...  substantial)!

Just out of curiosity, how are the overall rankings calculated?  On a weekly basis?  I find it hard to believe that I've arrived in the past week and already risen that high on anything much greater than that...

Hey!

The ranks are real-time. They are calculated from all three servers. It is based off of a point system. Everyone begins at 1,000 points. In order to be officially ranked you must have accumulated at least 50 kills (at two points a kill) to be ranked. After that, the point system is based off of which weapon you kill with, flag/control point captures, and defensive scores. Flag caps are worth 10 points. Defends are worth 2 or 5 or something...

Kills are handled differently. When you kill someone you take points from them. If you kill someone below your skill points, you take less points from them... however, if you kill someone above your point level, you take more points from them/they lose more points to you. It makes staying at the top more difficult because there are more hazards to your overall score than if you are a lower ranking player.

As I said before, stat changes happen in real-time, as opposed to some stats where it is calculated at the end of the day or something.

Players remain ranked for 28 days from the last time you connected. This means that after a month, those who only played once are removed from the stats, while those who play regularly remain.

I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any more.

Your vote has started. I don't know how it's going so far. I know there is some hesitation due to you being new here, so allow me to say this. A denial of application is nothing personal (usually). You can feel free to reapply at any time if things don't go well. This is of course if it goes sour this time around. If it does, I'd take the time to really get to know the regulars more. Often times people are recommended for admin positions due to other admins seeing them help keep the game fun without admin abilities. This really speaks to someones character.

I am thrilled that you are enjoying our servers so much. I look forward to fragging your ass sometime.

Oh, believe me, I wouldn't take it personally. Being fairly new to the servers, I certainly understand that there's no substitute for experience in judging a person's maturity and character. My posting here has been an attempt to assuage any concerns that I'm just some punk trying to get power. (and any questions are welcome from on-the-fence voters!)

In all truth, my entire goal is to have fun playing and keep griefers at bay. If I hadn't noticed the occasional troublemaker (such as one friendly chap on #1 last night who was so friendly he thought we should all hear his music through his mic unless we muted him), I wouldn't feel driven to ask about it. But every server gets its share of idiots, and I'd like to do my part to keep the focus on good, wholesome killing.
