What if, one member of each team was alive. The final two, with the melee-only mod enabled would also start playing an epic music track. Like.. One of those matrix themes or the theme for Mortal Kombat. That'd be pretty neat in my opinion. Otherwise, after thinking about it I'm all for melee-only deathmatch. Although deathmatch in its current form urges strategy and team work. Unfortunately it does promote turtling/camping with a sentry and dispenser behind you as well, which many people tend to do. (I personally, am usually a doc or spy for deathmatch)

EDIT: LINK - mortal kombat theme? that was like 12 years ago? i'm pretty sure we could come up with a better track than the matrix or mortal kombat themes. I mean, come on. Being an electronica enthusiast, i am insulted by your suggestions. Maybe we could have the screen go 2d and finish em off by turning into a dragon and biting off the opponents head. How bout we throw out the whole game, and go back to playing the genesis! ZMOG RETRO CHIC IS SOOOO IN!

Just to be clear.... Mortal Kombat theme is so influential and ahead of its time..... You can't dog it that much.
