Great post! I'll have to read it more carefully when I have time. It's close to dinner, and the Blazer (yay!) / Piston (boo!) game is on tonight, so...

One thing I did notice was the sentry gun points cut in half. Can we put it back to 1.0? =) Half points aren't good, but perhaps it can be a basis for what others are measured, if anything? Perhaps also consider the three groups : Offensive, defensive and the more of a utilitarian class. The heavier hitters of soldier and heavy weapons guy should get less points while the medic should get the highest, in my opinion. Now with the engineer, SGs aren't very moveable. It takes a good strategy to place it properly, often banging on it over and over and over again to maintain it. We often can't go far, else a spy saps it, or some soldier decides to use it for target practice. We have to often wait for some dumbass to blindly run by it. Engineers aren't very offensive, (even though it's fun to place one in the enemy base) so to cut the points gained per kill makes it rough. 2 or 3 points per kill is best I've seen now since the point cut. Some matches, i've got as high as 39 kills. But most often, especially with a weaker opposition, I get five to ten kills. Then some guy runs by and catches me off guard and kills me and gets 32 points. Haha!

I dunno...

I do like the point system, but just not fond of how it's balanced currently. Losing points for dying is fine. Losing more to a lower tier player is also fine. Just not losing as much as we do to them, since most of the newer players are not new to game, but new to these servers. Veteran players getting awarded newbie points!

I'll read more and post later. Thanks for the opportunity.

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do in terms of players skill.

I will restore engie points.

I ask that you try out the new system and let me know if it's any better.

I'm just happy that my slightly ranting comment (after a frustrating couple rounds) has actually helped spark action and further discussion!

Any change is for the better in my book. My biggest concern with the former system was the number of low-ranked people outnumbered high ranked people so much that I might be lucky to even be in a game with someone in the top hundred, and only a 50% chance they'd be on the opposite team. The 500 kill minimum, at least as far as WDF? tells it, largely repairs that problem, and the decrease in point loss is extremely welcome. So I'm looking very forward to trying out the changes, and thanks so much for making them!

I'm thinking after dinner...

.................(how's that vote coming?)

Also, WDF?, you might want to update the help file in the HLSTATSX section (if you can) with the new weapon modifiers (I think you did it for the sentry gun, but then reset it?), new minimum kills and new extra modifier for victim points.

I will try and explain it as simply as possible.

You will only earn or lose 1 point per kill/death. You should receive full points for flag caps and domination points, etc.

After logging 500 kills on any of our three servers (they all stat together so your points carry over) you will be in the main stat pool and recognized as a "regular."

Regular players earn the full amount of points based off of the points modifiers.

After playing a ton tonight, I have decided to award people will full points vs. the lessened option. I've done this because I think the fact that scoring a cap point earns you 50 points, and your team 25 points, which I believe earns you 75 points (not sure yet). That makes up for the major point loss to people below you.

Furthermore, with the 500 kill min limit on stats, I think it's only people we know who are taking points away from us... which is fine by me.

Seems much better now, but servers crashed, so...

Only noticed a few minor things. Can't put my finger on it. Noticed one thing though :

I'd get 1pt a kill, but 5 pts for an assist.

The 5 point kill assist is a static point gain, unlike kills which varies based on skill.
