Well, fuck.

It's 7:55 a.m., which means I have five minutes to shower and pack to rush to the airport.  I put the rig together, but have not had time to test it and I fell asleep and now I'm fucked on time.

So, here's the rig.  Very small footprint.  Fucking good it does me to have put these components together for my trip to Portland.  Useless waste of time now since I don't have the time to repackage and pack the damn thing.



I am taking my  Orange Box, gaming mouse, headset and mini-keyboard n case I can find a internet cafe or some other solution that will let me play.

Just get a Dam Laptop.

LOL.  Something like that.  But that's way more time than I would have put into it. I had planned to cut three holes for PSU and fans and the guts would have just sat inside.  The cables have would come out the top and buttons and lights would not have been visible.

And I do plan to put together a Lexan case with a flexible PCIe card extender from this place for example, http://www.adexelec.com/pciexp.htm.


Card can be positioned anywhere.  Other companies will make these extenders with even longer ribbon cable.  The possibilities are limitless for this purpose.  Oh, yes, you could say it is not really limitless, in which case yes, it's limited to the amount of matter in the known universe which comprises the ribbon material.  But then again, I don't need to have my comp sitting at the xray machine at airport in L.A. with my vid card connected to it physically while it is sitting in the Andromeda galaxy . . .   er, sorry, OCD.

Anyway, I just knew I didn't have the time to make the case before the trip and then people freaked me out about it. My compromise was to take the thing with me without the case.  Plan would have worked too if it weren't for you meddling kids . . .

And since I didn't take all those parts, packing consisted of picking up the pile of clothes sitting next to my bag and shoving them in there - plenty of room without the component boxes you see.  Left about fifteen minutes after the post.  Got to the airport to find out the plane had been pulled for servicing and they walked over to another airline and got me a ticket for the next flight, which ended up going through another city, almost three hours later.  -Always sign up for text notification from the airlines.

Because I had planned to be at my destination three hours earlier, I hadn't planned on taking my mid-morning dump at the airport.  -Cantrip does not like public restrooms at airports and would rather have his colon burst than pinch a loaf on a germ-ridden seat.  However, with the layover, it could not be helped and Cantrip called on his massive quad muscles to pull a hovercat over the toilet seat, even with two Sani-Seat paper covers.



-I came back to the bathroom after having a Bloody Mary to take the photo above.  In the time that I was gone, someone had gone into the stall, taken off their Calvin Klein chonies and abandoned them on the grab bar to the left.



They fit me okay when I tried them on. . . not.

This is awsome man. Makes me wanna take the computer parts I have laying around the house and mod me up something. I think putting the componets in a vintage radio would be awsome looking. Might be able to even hook up the old speakers to it.... ah creativity. Looks like alot of fun. 

hmm a 16X PCI-E slot that only runs in 8X, I wonder why it would do that?
