y helo thar

Sicne my PC is down, I cannot manage my iPod at all without completely erasing it for the other computer.  Does anyone know of an iTunes substitute that will let me manage music/movies etc on multiple PCs without erasing my stuff?  Cheers.

Doesnt the music have to be a in certain iPod format though, Which can only be done through iTunes or whatnot. Like my Walkman MP3 player, All the music has to be put on it through Sonic Stage CP. If I could use WMP11 I definately would.

yeah any music transfer you want to do with an ipod has to be done through itunes, at least in stock configuration. i know theres a linux dealie for syncing things up...but i dont know much more than that. however, there are tools to rescue the music from your ipod (the music files are in fact freely accessible, theyre jsut in 50 different folders and in no particular order) so you can extract all the music that you dont want to erase.

you don't have to flash shit to use WMP11.  it pretty much plug and play with just about everything.  the one thing i forgot to mention is that you will need a plugin for WMP11 to recognize your ipod since apple are jealous bitches and only want their crappy software to be used with their players.  download the plugin here.  i bet if apple didn't actually force you to use itunes with your players, that a lot of people would say FUCK IT, im using something else.

WMP11 will recognize more formats then itunes (i believe) and transfer anything (not just music) to your ipod.  have fun.  as soon as i realized how much easier it is to use WMP11 over itunes, i have never looked back.  click and drag in the sync tab is so much easier then then itunes.

as you can tell i'm not a fan of apple.  most of their stuff is average at best, and all of it is over-rated.  they do have some good products on the market, but even those have their drawbacks.

Can you get a plug-in for WMP11 so it can put music on my Walkman NW-A3000?

I wouldn't choose napster. I had it, and then I realized that they would DRM my entire hard drive if they could.

I thought one of the selling points of Amazon's music store was that it WAS DRM-free. You just use a dedicated client for it.

You and I both know just how much influence the EULA has on the actions of the user.
