alright so i know people are able to hear me in game sometimes when i dont play my itunes in the background, but today i noticed if i just press the 'speak' button in game w/o talking or anything it just emits a shitload of bass.
(The mic is a seperate attachment , its a webcam with a mic)
The thing is, im not sure if people are able to hear me all that well now that i noticed the whole uber bass thing.
Any ideas on how to 'fix' this ?

Have you tried testing it outside of TF2 to see if it still makes the background noise? TEAM APARTMENT: No one rocks quite as hard as we do. Go to your friends list and click on one of us who is online. You can chose to do text chat or voice chat. You can test your mike that way without the extra noise. I have built two machines with Realtek audio device built in. Realtek does not play well with TF2 or Steam. After hours of loading and ulnloading the drivers I just broke down and purchased a $20 Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value OEM (plain white box) card and disabled the Realtek device. Fixed the problem. My symptoms where I would hit transmit and I would get feedback that grew. No voice, but the sound was fine. I have a Plantronics headphone/mic setup. thanks, i actually just tested that right now.
the thing is, thevoice is clear just for some reason random feedback in the background makes a strong bass Booming/Beating type noise

I had the booming base build-up. I had spent enough time messing with it and just disabled the onboard audio and added a sound card for $20. Don't know what to tell you about how to fix. I have a third machine build that has the same Realtek onboard audio device. I'll work on it next week to see if I can get it to work. For some reason I haven't discovered yet, Realtek does not play well with TF2. Don't know if it's the driver or what, but disabling it seems the path of least resistance.
