This is because of two reasons: 1. Not wanting to be sued if any of the parts fail. 2. Not wanting reliability scores to go down if the cars act up. FYI, all the cars crushed were on the failboat aka the Cougar Ace.  get your ass to mars

Im sure they could have been contracted for them not to be used or sold publically, but used privately by the Movie company. And have a No responsibility thing if the cars fail.
