I am considering buying a new game.....both of these FPS games look pretty cool, but I cannot decide which to go for......if either one. Anyone got either or both? Please give Pros and Cons if possible.......k'thx.

I have CoD4. I love it. SP and MP are tons of fun. Would play MP more if I knew more people in it. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

CoD4 for sure  Formally known as MrT The film "Brokeback Mountain" was originally pitched as an off-beat romance starring MrT and WhutDuFuk. The sole reason the two legends declined the starring roles is because if MrT and WhutDuFuk were to kiss, there would be new meaning to the word homosexual...it would mean "obligation".

I actually took a break from TF2 to go hardcore in COD. Amazing...
Most of you know I was very competitive back in the day playing with and against the best. This is where the action is at...

Cod4 hands down, you can go online and play which is pretty fun as well. My son who is in marine infantry plays COD4. He say that it is the best emulation of actual combat he's found in a game. he plays mostly MP and teams with other marines online. I'm too busy playing TF2 to try it. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

I'm new here but one more vote for CoD4 couldn't hurt. It's the best non-arcade shooter to date. [b]period.[/b] But be forewarned; the crowd in CoD4 is going to be pretty close to the super-competitive, shit talking atmosphere you find playing something like Halo3 online  Also, recent patches of the PC client suffered from playing nice with PunkBuster (but that can be fixed and if you need help just shout) the 1.5 patch seems pretty stable. Oh and it's worth noting that the ingame voice option for CoD4 seems to be turned off on more than half the servers. But with all that said it's still a kickass game, well worth the money.

I just picked up COD4...and I'm probably not being fair to it just yet because I have only played about 30 min on Multiplayer...but it just seemed like a big fucking campfest. Long periods of absolutely nothing happening....because everybody was hiding and waiting behind a bunch of goddamn bushes. I was sitting there, hating it, as i watched in spectator mode....2 fucking rounds in a row....of 3 guys all just hidding behind desks and rubble, while the other 1 other member of the opposite team was AFK in thier spawn. Oh occasionally they would step out to inspect the soundness of the claymore trap they had set up...admiring how clever they were and surely thinking how great it's going to be when that Tango stumbles into ironsights. Bullshit. I hope i just ran into a bad combo of server and gametype...
Eh I was brought into this world with Quake DM....and camping was always faux pax....So I have trouble with games where I basically have to sit and wait for something to walk by to be successful.
OH, what was FUCKING Hilarious was that I Teamkilled my own friendly, and got promoted for it....lol.

what giller touched on is def an annoyance that CoD4 has but it [i]could[/i] have been due in part to the server settings. Some of the more popular servers run a hardcore mode where you get no map and it's "realistic" damage. pretty much one shot is a kill.
I'm half thinking about purchasing a server just to have a place for the [GwDR] that do have CoD4 would have a regular place to play with no bullshit.
Speaking of quake, you see that Id has an uber-pack up on steam now? that and quake is 5bucks or close to it. We need to bring back the old E1M7 days of deathmatch, hehehe

I enjoy COD 4...haven't played Frontlines
I think you just got some bad servers Giller...there is a certain extent to camping in any "tactical" shooter (RB 6, COD, Battlefield, etc) unlike in "arcade" type shooters (Quake, UT, etc)
Most servers I have played in have been fast paced <shrug> I would love a dedicated hardcore server to pwn ppl on
*edit* Could totally bring back Multi Models Quake DM. If I remember right didn't that one have the chickenizer...and we figured out the bug where you could have all your weaps while in "chicken" mode
