What card do you have now?

Do you have an AGP or PCI-E Slot?

Anyway, this is a good card for less than $350, Radeon X1950

I shouldn't Edit my posts so much =P

How about Radeon HD 3800? Its the latest graphics card from ATi, All though not quite as powerfull as the older X1950 XTX, It is HD and Supports Direct X10.

Yeah, Im pretty sure only Vista Supports Direct X10. You might be able to get some kind of crack to get Direct X10 to install on XP.

Also, You have PCI-E right?

The Radeon HD 3800 should still work under Direct X9. It would be future proof if you do upgrade to Vista. Im not compltely sure it will work with Direct X9, You will have to check.

How about just simply getting the slightly better version of what you had? Radeon X1950 Pro

And a rendering of the same scenery with DirectX 10

Take a look at this http://www.techmixer.com/download-directx-10-for-windows-xp/

Took  me a few seconds to find it =D

If you have Two PCI-E x16 Slots (And Two 6Pin power Connectors), You can have two with Crossfire.

Having had my fair share of bad experiences with ATI cards, I'll recommend this... http://www.newegg.com/Pr...spx?Item=N82E16814130311 Delta and I both have this card. Compatible with XP and Vista, runs everything I've thrown at it on max settings. The thing to keep in mind when shopping for electronics is just how much hardware outpaces the software. I'd say that with this card, I'm future-proof for at least a couple years.

Gun and I have spoke about this. What about Crysis?

I am going to upgrade my system  this spring and I am wondering what would be the best course of action for a system.  I want a system that makes crysis look great and play even better.  Thats it with a dvd burner and lightscribe.

Those are my only requests.  I figure Crysis is the benchmark for graphics due to its rendering whorish self and I want to be able to chill on this new comp for 2 years.  So any suggestions would help..ty

I have Flight Simulator X. There's zero to zero difference between DX9 and DX10 in terms of raw graphics like that. Technical improvement yes, graphics no. Any pictures that say otherwise are straight-up FAKE.

As for a cheapish video card, I'd recommend the GeForce 7800 GTX for AGP buses and the best GeForce 8xxx you can afford if you have PCI-e.
