Grades are pretty important. lol ..........But please continue reading cause its gets better
I'd say a big issue is time management. It make a big differance when wanting to be successful at anything while still enjoying the good things in life.
In your case I take it its homework. My suggestion is match play. Match the amount of time you play with the amount of study and you'll do great. Think of "gametime" as the "reward time". My son is 4 years old and thats the track i'm trying to start him on. He loves gaming just as much as any of us here but I dont let him play unless I see some kindergarden homework done in front of me.
Personaly with me going back to school I try to stay away from home to get my school work done. I stay at the computer labs at school because I know if I go home I'll just hop on TF2 or whatever and time will slip away from me and I will not get the work I wanted done completed that day. So if you school has a lab try working there. Or if your close to a local library try to work there. Disassociate your self from whatever you think might be the distraction and I'm sure better grades will follow.
Learn the way that fits you best. Some people learn different ways. Learning by doing, by reading, by watching and many more. Find what way suits you best. Think of it in gaming terms....when I buy games I actually READ the manual. Yeah its pathetic but I hated playing through a game the hard way just to find out weeks or more later that the manual had "hotkeys" or an easier way of doing anything. Some people get hella good at a game just by doing it. Some people "speck" others and see how they Owned it up and adopted successful tactics. Those are three exaples of learning by reading, doing and watching.
Learning can be hard sometimes. But if you learn "HOW" to learn or how you personaly learn better, you can spend less time learning and more time playing.

Time management is tough even for adults, especially me. I play when at times I have shit I should be doing. I waste, or spend afternoons playing games when I should be doing my responsibilites.
I have to tell myself, "Put the mouse down".

time management sucks. the last marking period (1/3 semester) i barely turned any pre-cal/trig hw in and i dont think my grade is so well (maybe 70's?) report cards come out friday. however, the last 2 nights i suddenly did my homework out of no where. it was weird. good luck myke. and hurry back (after hw) Cantrip wrote:When I die, I want to be reincarnated as a woman's jogging bra.

I have a 4 page essay I've been putting off for exactly two weeks now.. it's due tomorrow. It will be easy though, It will be narrative.
My philosphy (which I adopted from a teacher of mine who feels the same way) is to just do what you want when you want. Procrastination is fine, just as long as you actually do the work. I usually don't do my homework until around 10pm-12am, but that's just the way I like to do it.

High school is such a joke. I would sleep in half the time, and go to class whenever I felt like it. All this and I still managed almost perfect marks. (in the Canadian system which I believe studies show is a bit harder than the American one) Seriously in high school all that is really required is to spend maybe an hour on homework per night. IF that. Sure I maybe was smarter than the average student but high school is a cakewalk if you manage to get your work done on time. Anyone can pass high school with at least a B if they actually spend an hour a night on homework. High school is easy as shit. I'm the leetest one here

Jobs need to be filled, and if you are happy and can take care of yourself checking people out at a register 6 days a week, live on, brother. Myke, I know you know grades are important and you know what you can do to make it right. Abide by your parents and they will take care of you. Sounds like they care about you or they would not be grounding you, so take your punishment, use it to motivate you to do better and give the no excuse to not set you free soon. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

At work today, not a single person asked what grades I got in HS. Everybody I saw today did expect me to be on time, do my job well, and to give them what they needed from me. In return, they pay me and I get to be useful. What your parents want you to learn is in the second sentence. Having balance in life means setting priorities and doing first things first. Would I rather play and have fun all day? You bet. But if I do that, eventually everything else goes to hell. Don't sweat it, we'll all still be here when you get ungrounded and looking forward to playing with you after you get your work done. The balance thing you'll get to work on the rest of your life -- I'm still working on it every day. First things first. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"
