Well, Clinton won Ohio. I thought she would lose Texas, but she got a few more (95,000) votes there than Obama. /sigh

Obama still has the edge by about 85 delegates. McCain secured the Republican nomination.

Obama : 1,434

Clinton : 1,357

2,025 needed to win Democratic nomination.

I was just teasing, btw.

I was writing as they were broadcasting on T.V.

But anyway, the margin has changed.

Obama 1,451

Clinton 1,365

So now margin is 86.

It seems to be about the same as before this caucus. This is probably because Clinton's margin of victory in Ohio and Texas and Rhode Island were rather small (like 51% to 49%) and then Obama, who won Vermont, was a bigger margin. I think it was like 68% to 31%. Not sure where the other 1% is, but that's what was said.

A factor in the TX primary is republicans crossing over to vote for Clinton.  A lot of conservatives want her to be the one they face because they think she's more vulnerable.  Conservative talk show hosts (national and local) have been pushing for the cross-over voting and I heard on NPR today that exit polls in TX confirmed this.  This isn't a factor in the OH race because they don't allow cross-over voting between parties in the primary.

The Republicans can now consolidate their campaign behind McCain while Hillary and Obama tear each other apart and Nader steals away progressive voters in the general election.  The real winners yesterday were the Republicans.

I've read that Obama may wind up actually winning more delegates than Clinton in Texas because of how they are allocated. Regardless, the only way Clinton can really win at this point is if she starts winning by significant margins.

The reason for crossover voting in Texas is because if you vote democrat in the presidential race, you cannot vote democrat in the local elections. So like if you are a republican, you vote for local republicans and then crossover and vote democrat in the presidential.

It's a way of controlling the vote and eliminating third party races; to keep the little guy out. This is one reason Nader is running again. He stated this very reason.
