So I was in a thrift store today looking for stuff to take apart.  I've been going on long walks lately and usually poke my head into this thrift shop if I have the time.

I was in there for like two minutes before I had to leave.  There was a family that was making lots of noise.  Mom was fat, dad was fat and the two boys ages five and six were loud fucks.

The older boy was banging his head against a couch while bitchy mother was telling him that it was not his.  He then said something that made me stop mid-step.

"I want to kill myself!  I want to kill myself!  I want to kill myself!"

Okay.

Mom and dad acted like there was nothing wrong.  They just let him scream that at the top of his lungs like it was business as usual.  I had to get out of there.

How fucked up a parent do you have to be to teach your kids that is acceptable behavior?
You should be more like Cantrip.

Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ."
GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit."
Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. "
WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore."
GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD"
llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!"
Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

Thats why you gotta lay the law down on kids. In Europe growing up we got hit tons of times. Hell even the teachers beat us. I guess North Americans are getting soft. When I was unruly I was put in my place.

I'll have you know that I am an American child, born and raised in the states. And at the age of 18...my ears are very flexible now and wooden spoons make me flinch.

Nobody is getting soft.

Yeah and your parents are lucky that in this day and age, you weren't taken away and they weren't jailed for child abuse.

EDIT : And are you a good boy now, or do you do bad stuff? lol

My hats off to your parents for doing the right thing. Im sure many people here in Canada and USA lay the beatdown on their kids but I've noticed recently whenever Im walking around in malls the number of incidents described in the first post are increasing so my first suspicion is always that the kid is spoiled.

Good to hear. My son is pretty well behaved too, but I dunno... I'm not around him 24/7. Like I wish he would apply himself at school more.

Heh heh, oh you saw that edit, I did huh?

And I'm not sure how to use the pic you posted? It's kind of blurry and has writing on it.

Cantrip, next time you see a little kid screaming he wants to kill himself walk up to him and ask him how he wants to do it. If the parents don't get the little maggot under control, offer to sell him a gun. You may need talk with the police afterwards, but that can be entertaining when you know you have not broken the law and the person complaining is obviously a dick.

Re: Fat families. My favorite is when you are in the grocery store and they are all arguing over which icecream to buy and you can't fucking get past them because they block the whole fucking aisle. I can totally understand that many people are predisposed to being really fat, but godamn grow some common sense!

I got the crap kicked out of me as a kid (literally) if I even looked at my parents wrong. It's not the right thing to do, frankly it's one of the most horrible things you can do to a small child when you go overboard, but man if it doesn't get results.

I was never physically abused by my parents and I was never a spoiled brat, so I don't think smacking your child around makes a difference. I bet it feels good though, I wish I could smack random kids around when I see them in public.
