Ok i have a 8600gt 512 card right now, and i can get another one for $110 then run them in sli. The 8600 has 32 pipelines and the the 9600gt has 64 bit with 2 8600 gt it woud be the same but the 9600 gt is about $180 i think it was. i would have a gig of video ram with 2 8600 gt's. I think getting another 8600gt would be best bet for me, but i owuld like to know what other people think. WDF?: I found a hot girl WDF?: Who lets me WDF?: Drink WDF?: Smoke WDF?: And play video games WDF?: ALL DAY shignog: and in the back door? I also run an 8600GT. So does Delta. Currently, hardware outperforms nearly all software currently on the market. Save your money. Take a girl out to dinner. Safety + Peace

Save your money. The 9600gt is a marginally upgraded 8600gt. Wait until the REAL 9 series is released and splooge on a top of the line card. If a new card is a neccessity the best price-performance ratio would be the 8800gt or the radeon HD3870's. You know even though I have 2 top of the line 7 series once the top of the line 9 series is released I may have to make the transition. I usually switch every two generations but really other than Crysis my computer eats just about any game out there at the moment. I'm the leetest one here

Oh and remember SLI does not = 2x the performance. It's more like a 30% boost if that over a single card. Personally I would state the boost is about 15-20% on most games. I've heard the 9600 sli's extremely well but really Shignog the 8800 gt is only about 30 dollars more than a 9600gt. If you can scrape that together I would go for the 8800. I'm the leetest one here

The EVGA 8800gt is 229 dollars at Newegg. Heres the link. It is by no means a low end 8800. Behind the ultra and the gtx the 8800gt is the way to go. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130318 I'm the leetest one here

would the 640mb ver of the 8800 be better than the 512mb ver? the 512 has a 256 bit and the the 640 ver has 320 so would the 640 mb ver be the best buy if i remember right there the same price or like $5. its only better if you have a larger monitor. Other than that there is little difference. More than likely though one of them is simply overclocked so you dont have to do it yourself. Its a waste of money stick with the vanilla 8800gt. Superclocked versions are just to get some extra money off of people. Edit: Remember to get the GT NOT the GTS. I'm the leetest one here

http://www.newegg.com/Pr...spx?Item=N82E168141431198800 GTS 512 $240 after rebate. Forget SLI. It isn't worth it. The 8800GT (512MB) is a great card, but the reference design cooler is crappy. From the intertubes rumors, the 9800 isn't going to be much better than the high end 8800s. A nice 9600 might for you, though, if you are strapped for cash. 8600s are sad under-performers. A nice 9600 GT is about on par with a 256MB 8800 GT. Whatever you do, stay away from the 320 and 640MB 8800 GTS cards. They suck ass and are overpriced.

I'm running an 8800 ultra. I'd go that route.

Send him an extra 400 dollars WDF and he can do what you say. WDF's secret is out hes been spending our donations on 700 dollar video cards. Edit: I'd still take the gt over the gts for the 8800 series. The price-performance simply cannot be beat. I'm the leetest one here

In Hi-Res and with AA and AF turned up the 9600GT will beat the 8800GT and in any res and anything will spank the living shit out of the 8600GT
