I've been sick the past couple of weeks.  As a result, I've been drinking hot tea at the office.  I usually drop in one pack of sugar and one of those no-refrigeration-needed creamers which come in little cups and taste like condensed milk.  So I checked the packaging for the milk - 10 calories.  Then I checked the packaging for the packets of sugar - 10 calories.

I then went to the frig and pulled out a coke - 140 calories.  That's like 14 of those little sugar packets!

So I told my friend and he said he had the same conversation with his boss less than a week ago.  He said you can't get 14 packets of sugar to dissolve in 12 ounces of water.  It's true.  But as my other friend said, "You guys don't cook do you?"  That's a true statement.  Turns out you can get the sugar to dissolve if you heat the water to a high temperature.  But still, 14 packs of sugar!

I've now taken to drinking iced tea with one pack of sugar.  No lemon.  And I can get it in powder form at the store.

Look at the empty cans that are strewn about your computer desk.  How many equivalent packs of sugar in the softdrink you drink?

Now look at the empty beer cans . . .

You should be more like Cantrip.

I don't really drink soda, I go for the sparkling water with lemon. One gets enough sugar in the daily diet as it is.

WARNING!
Times mentioned in the above post are stated in WHUT time... which is not the time normal humans are accustomed. Whut time is relative. Today is defined as whenever Whut happens to get a bug up his ass and thinks he is gotten sorta of close to being in the mood. The actual real life timeframe for these occurences is unknown at this time. Sometimes it happens more than once in a day and during other periods it would be more like for hell to freeze over than anything actuallly getting done. Currently we are in a time frame where it would seem that there would be more of a chance of Dragon getting a girlfriend as far fetched as that might be than there would be of anything actually happening here.

I have a 20 fl oz. bottle of coca-cola on my desk. 65 grammes of sugar. With one ounce avoirdupois being about 30 grammes, a 20 oz bottle of coca-cola is a little more than 10% sugar.

Ive been trying to cut back on the soda. Last month i finally got off of my 6 month long break from Mountain Dew.

I switched to mostly Jones soda, which is way better tasting, however it has 190 calories on the average per bottle. And there is a difference between your everyday calorie, and you calorie derived from fat. Soda/pop, has 0 calories from fat.

Looking at a bottle of powerade, it has 240 calories a bottle, and gatordade has 200. They are considered good for you, and have high calories for a drink, 0 calories from fat though.

Ya.  A ten pound bag of sugar has no fat, but if you eat all of it, I'm certain you will add to your waistline.

True, Im actually interested now in what a 10 lb bag of sugar actually would do to a person.

The only effective way I could think to try it would be to drink it with water over the course of a day, but even drinking 20 glasses of water, youd still have way too much sugar to really consume it, and straight eating it is out of the question. Maybe a 5lb bag would work better?

Dude, I can't even stand to put a 10 calorie packet of sugar in my mouth.

Thats why I was thinking diluting it in water might work better.

1 pound of sugar is 2 1/4 cups. So with a 10 lb bag of sugar, thats enough for over 20 batches of kool-aid. As much as I love kool-aid, I dont think I can drink 40 quarts fast enough to see what would actually happen.
