Just curious how many hunters we have on board? I am primarily a bird/small game hunter. My wife and I have two bird dogs (or lap dogs depending who you talk to). My wife was never around hunting so I guess I'm lucky she "allows" it, the only stipulation she has is when it comes into the house it has to look like it does in the store. So lets hear some stories!

I've never found it particularly fun to kill things so I do all my hunting in the grocery store or at the farmers market. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

My dad just got pretty big into hunting. He and a few old boys head up north into a tiny cabin and wait for mooses. Sounds gay, I know.
So far he's only got some patridges to show for it.
Kudos for bringing your doggies to the hunt tho! Could you post some pics or video?

I hunted some about 20 years ago but being a young guy with no money I could not afford the proper gear. The final straw came when sitting in a tree stand and my feet fell asleep because my boots were too tight. Seems I had too many socks on to keep my feet warm. Lovely climb down. Just was not fired up about it anymore. Fished a lot back then too. Gave up fishing to take up golf. Gave up golf when I got married. Now I am just a loser with a ball and chain around my leg. Siiggghhhh. She does let me play computer games. I guess she is not that bad.

I don't hunt. Didn't grow up with it in the city, so never learned. I live in the country now and love to get out in the woods in our area and find the turkeys, pheasants and woodcock that we have in abundance. There is nothing like it in the autumn woods. Beautiful pups! I do not hunt. I do not have the stomach for it. While I love me some venison, I can not bring myself to shoot it, let alone process it. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Try Dove hunting Oopsie. Great exercise, low cost, and a good time with your friends and family...
Walk about 5 miles or less depending on how much you want to work through the corn fields or wild sunflower fields or untouched land. Then you achieve your limit of 12 white wings. Head to the vehicle to clean them which is far quicker and much cleaner than a big animal. Take that first sip of cold beer in that 95 degree Texas heat and it never tastes so good. Then head back to the casa, wrap the breasts in bacon with a jalapeño in the middle and throw them on the grill. From there my choice is a Jack and Coke while I cook. Great Appetizers. Some people put cheese like pepper jack or monterey jack in the middle of the wrap..its all good no matter what.
Nice German Crawdad- just watch her around rattlers..I have had several friends who have had Germans die from rattlesnake bites and not being able to get there in time to save them. Best small bird hunting dog I have ever seen was a German short hair who was a pure specimen. Muscular and beautiful. She used to find a smooth large rock when the hunting was slow and come to you and drop it on your foot. So you had to pay attention so you wouldn't get hurt.(ha-ha). Anyways you could through this rock and no matter if it was in the water or or at night .....she would find it and would not stop wanting to play until her owner/Dad/friend whatever you call it...I don't categorize when it comes to that ....but he would just whisper to her " thats enough" and she would stop. Great sweet dog but she died from a rattlesnake bite as well this past fall. Sad day.
