Hi all.. I was talking to Razor who recommend I post this here.. I was contacted today (via steam friends chat) that my account was flagged and that I had to provide my Steam User name, Steam ID and password or I would be banned from all Valve AC servers.. I also received an email (after I provided my account name only with email address) indicating I had to provide the information or I would not be able to play on any VAC servers. What do you guys think? Most of you have played with me a lot and know I do not cheat.. I wouldn't even know how!! Here is the email content:
This account you have provided us with has been flagged. We will get back to you with more information ASAP. You will also need to provide us with ALL accounts you have ever player with on your computer as this may occur to them as well.

Sounds like a phishing expedition to me. Don't give out any more information and notify Valve directly. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

Hi Mystique, played with you a few times on Avanti. The fact that they asked for your password raises a red flag. I would go on the forums of Steam and inquire. It could be some peeps wanna steal your account information.

open up a chat with anyone on your friends list. the first thing it says is: Never tell your password to anyone. scam. dont even tell them your email addy or username. VALVe has said it time and again, they (the company or the employees) will never ask you anything about your account information. Thanks for the input.. of course since this game is a big part of my life.. I had a little bitty panic attack thinking that I could be wrongfully accused and go to jail!. Hey.. It COULD happen! :-) I feel better now.. Thanks to all!!

Sounds like quite a scary ordeal, we at WDF forums like to make sure everyone feels safe and secure...Rest assured we will get to the bottom of this, all that we need from you is the time/date that this happened, the user that contacted you and your password. Once we have this infomation we can haxor your stuff, I mean make sure you're safe!!!

I remember thefirst day / first hour of playing tf2 some fool tried this same stunt...
I told him to "Fuck off".
You can also report that phishing activity to steam.

Hey, if you're having problems with your STEAM account I can get it fixed pretty easily. Just PM me your username and password, along with your SSN and a valid credit card number.
