So the hubby and I have an older RCA tube TV. It still works just fine and was a fairly good tv when purchased 10ish? years ago. Here's my question - it has been losing volume....one channel at a time. This can't be normal. Anyone know what might cause this and how to fix it? You might not be wrong...thing is, we are broke as a joke! Darn real life with bills and such! I'm really just curious as to WHY it would happen on only one channel at a time. It gets really hard to hear and fades out over time...before long, nothing. I've never had this happen with a TV before.
And btw McCheese - your avatar makes me hungry (Jamesbigmac's too...) Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Turn up the volume on your hearing aid. No, but really, it's 10 years old. The parts are degrading inside the thing causing it to short out. You're losing volume because the amp inside the tv is dying.

whut's right. the parts are breaking down. this happens after 10 years of even the most casual use. It's old. if you don't have the cash for a newtube, then find one used. talk to friends, craigslist, classifieds, garage sales, etc. do it. do it. do it. Safety + Peace

i had the same problem with my old tv. it was about 25 years old though, but hey it worked. I finally broke down and dropped a shit ton of money on the best tv money can buy hoping that it will last me at least 5-8 years (i'm sure it will).
sometimes you just need to break down and upgrade.

Not sure if an RCA tube would have Audio out, but if it does you can just get a really cheap pair of computer speakers (logitech, etc.) and run the audio externally. Then in another 6 months when the light tubes inside the TV start giving out, you can use the Video out to run through a projector to avoid that problem. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I suggest replacing your 10 year old TV with this: thats 102 inches of eyeball blood busting quality. get ready to sell a few kidneys, im sure you can gather a few from your students and sell them on the black market. ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

Sell a kid, get a TV and invest the money from the reduced expenses? Maybe? How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Cheapest, easiest, and least stressful way to fix the problem.
Of course, less TV means more TF2...
