I'm going to be honest here, I hate people who are passionate about presidential candidates. Hilary, Mc Cain, Obama, anybody. During the PA primaries we had thousands of monkeys people running around with Obama or Hilary posters. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume their motivation was to feel accepted by other ____ supporters and to feel good about themselves because they're "making a difference," not to actually sway votes. I also hate how every internet forum, talk show, coffee shop, gas station is full of people speaking about the candidates as if they knew everything about politics. You don't. You're just regurgitating opinions you've heard or read somewhere else and making blanket statements rarely backed by facts. I don't know shit about amish quilt weaving so why should I talk my ass off as if I knew the weavers personally? They're just as bad as the people who think their one vote is going to decide the election. Wrong answer, no. Yes people en masse decide the vote, but we're talking about just you, political Fanatiker, and you are not important. Just to get the record straight: Do I like Obama? No. I don't like his feel good campaign, his lack of experience, or his face. Do I like Hilary? No. I don't like her lies, pulling the woman card too much (nobody cares), or her face. Do I like Mc Cain? No. I've met him. Nice guy, don't like his religious inspired political views, weak on defense, or his face. Do I know shit about politics? I majored in poli sci with a european poli sci minor; and I would still say no. Anybody who openly admits they know a lot about politics is full of themselves. Anybody who isn't a politician and talks about politics like they're hot shit is full of themselves. Notes: I'm not talking politics, only the masses who feed off it. And yes, I have been extremely bored at work this week (part of the ups and downs of working at a start up company) hence me having time to rant. get your ass to mars

Alright....personally, I happen to agree with you in pretty much all cases here.....Politics in the US has turned to shit....photo ops and sound bites....no one cares enough to pay attention anymore, or if they do, its simply to point out the flaws in the other side of the aisle as done by so man pundits on all news stations.... That said....I support Obama....and his message of change. Why? Not because I actually believe that he will change anything, but because the movement he has started, and his, somewhat obsequious, mentions of class and class conflict, will hopefully wake people up to the way free market capitalism works.....Shit on the working man, gold for the elites. Hopefully, whatever comes of this election, the movement of the poor will continue, and they will continue to stand up for themselves, forcing the government to actually listen to the working man for once. Suffers from the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency — nay — the very existence of George W. Bush

It basically boils down to which of the 2cups cup you're going munch shit from. They all suck, but I know this, we are fucked as a country for the next thousand years because Dubya II has done in the last 8 years. However, he couldn't have fucked us as completely as he has without the aid of his handlers, who set policy from economics down to the disastrous war we will never get out of. Those who set policy are all loyal GOP people, because that's who Dubya II surrounds himself with. Those people show poor judgment, or worse, deliberate action that is contrary to the best interests of the country. And they knew better. So I don't care which cup of shit I have to eat, as long as it's not the cup of shit handed to me by the Republicans. If that means Obama, or Nader, or someone from the Green Party or someone from the Nipple Ring Party, I'm voting for whoever I think has the best chance against the Republicans. Or I may just not vote this election because I'm going to be really pissed off at whatever the outcome may be. I'm one of these people who, whenever someone starts bitching about the current political situation, asks the other person if he or she voted in the last election, specifically in the election that put the person into power that is the subject of the conversation. If the answer is "Oh, well I didn't Vote," then I end the conversation. If I don't vote, I'll just shut up about it and not engage in any political discussion, because I didn't exercise my blood-derived right to vote. And for you foreigners who feel you need to comment on our political situation here in the states, we know it's fucked up - gtfo and just enjoy your NAFTA benefits. You should be more like Cantrip. Twitchy: "I pulled a Cantrip . . ." GivePeaceAChance: "If the Tempest had nipples, I'd pinch that shit." Xylicon: "I'm about to deliver my [Richard] in your face for posting that stupid shit. " WDF?: "He keeps reaming me... night after night... I'm rather sore." GivePeaceAChance: "OMG MY NIPS ARE HARD" llenta: "cantrip, you fail!!!" Filliam H. Muffman: "i'm on top of dick"

In my experience most people are really ignorant about politics, even people who act like they know shit. Reading Time magazine and watching Nightline only makes it worse. I used to be really into politics and could talk all insider with anyone, down to the current polling data in key counties or whatever minute fucking detail seemed important. It is fucking pointless unless you are getting paid to do it. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

To quote myself, voting is pure bullshit in a country that only offers two parties to choose from and within those parties relatively little disagreement. Does your vote make a difference? Yes, an infinitesimal one. Does it mean that everyone in the country has the ease of access to a broad spectrum of ideas as people in multi-party unicamerally governed nations? No.

I know a little about politics and the extreme large majority of individuals with whom I engage in political discussions think they know a great deal more than they do. Forums are the absolute worst as generally people regurgitate the same crap over and over and over and over and over and never attempt to read and learn but keep on fighting. Verbally I enjoy the discussions as it's a wonderful learning/teaching platform and politics are history. All good history includes politics. So really it's the ignorance that bothers me most an Americans today are particularly so. (keep ur politics outta my thread)

In cali, they don't let u vote. they pass stupid nanny laws to protect you from everything under the sun without letting us vote on them (IE blue tooth queer buds and Mylar Balloons). Even laws we do vote on, they overturn to pander to special interest groups (IE gay marriage ban lifted by judges in san fran. Not that i'm anti-gay unions, i'm just pro doing what the tax payers vote for.). When we do vote its to see whether the state should take more money from the Indian casinos to pay for their overbloated budgets. And when we vote for state-wide budget cuts, instead of cutting the bullshit fat (like high-salary do-nothing beauracrats), they cut the stuff that they feel strikes at us the most, IE cops, teachers and firefighters. They're not out for us and they have done everything to make it seem like were a part of the process while keeping our real opinions and beliefs nullified. Open ur eyes, every vote you make is a vote for big gov't taking your freedoms away to keep special interests and lobbyists happy.

Socialist... Go back to Sweden. Captialism is what built this country and now that the free market is under attack by people like obama and hillary and yes, even mccain, our economy is in the shitter. Change is not the answer. Hope is definately not the answer. Shrinking the gov't is the answer. Lowering taxes and shutting down special interest beauracracies would go a lot farther to help the working man than to have a socialist like barack obama come into power and start raising taxes across the board. Raising taxes does nothing but give the gov't more money from us to WASTE! the only place money is made to work to its fullest capacity is in the private sector, where real effects of how that money is spent is fealt. if they fuck up the investment, the company is ruined, If the gov't fucks up the investment, tax the citizens more and go on to next line item. We don't have money to waste and every day we give more and more of it to our sleezy politicians who end up doing nothing and ask to be reelected. and when the economy is in the shitter because of all this socialistic wasting of tax dollars, the WORKING MAN IS THE ONE WHO FEELS IT THE WORST! how about lower prices for the working man? wouldn't that help him through his daily grind a little bit more than having gov't programs try to cater to his needs that will ultimately go unfulfilled and will require further gov't interaction to resolve?
The fundamental part of free market capitalism that make it so attractive and actually work is its incentive to succeed. If you succeed, you become wealthy and lead a better life, and if you fail, like in nature, you perish. Its survival of the fittest, just like out in the wild. The world isn't a utopian place. Not everyone can succeed as not everyone has something to provide to the world. It's kind of like feeding the squirells at the park. It makes you feel warm and toasty to see it come up and grab that peanut out of your hand but while YOU feel great about yourself and can rest at night on those warm fuzzy feelings, that squirell no longer feels the need to gather food on its own and actually work for its survival. it knows that some guy will sit at the bench the next day and feed him more peanuts. Then, when homie can't afford to buy peanuts because he has to pay 5.00 a gallon for gas, squirell dies cuz it has forgetten how to forage for food.
I know you all want to appear nice and friendly and kindhearted but socialism is not the answer to making the world a better place. Unless inefficiency and bloated wasteful do-nothing gov't beauracracies are your ideas of a better world.

Obama or McCain. Hmm, honestly I don't think either candidate can do what is needed. Obama is a good talker but a better politician(Look up how he started his political career, it's right out of the official dirty tricks manual) and is going to get pushed around by the party. McCain doesn't have the temperament.
If you want real change, then you basically have to clean house. That's right, vote both sides out of office. Now this really needed to be done during the primaries in order to remove the incumbents from both parties that are up for election. That's a message that will be heard by the remaining incumbents from both sides of the aisle.
Parting note. I always believed that California voters could have the lion's share of Washington's attention if they stopped voting party lines. Currently, California voters always vote Democrat(except Governor). Imagine if in Nov.the Calif voters changed to independent or Republican. Democrats would not be able to them them for granted and Republicans would know that Calif. electoral votes were up for grabs. Imagine the money that would pour into the state.
