LOL the tittle of this thread says it all.

Right now I'm in the hotel Biz office in Dubai. If you don't know where that is google it it'll show up on the map next to Hot as hell.

My flight from The US to here was awesome and if you have a chance to fly this way I suggest you use Emerates Airlines. The Plane had its own computer network onboard. It had an LCD screen on the back of the seat in front of you that could send/receive emails but also had music and movies on demand. One could also track the planes postion or change the view to camera mounts on the front and bottom of the plane. There was also seat to seat calling and simple multiplayer games where you played against other people on the flight. Also USB and laptop power support next to the LCD.

When it was time for people to sleep they turned down the lights and the cieling was illuminated with stars.

On my way here the plane flew over Washington DC at night and it looked pretty awesome. After that we flew across Europe and through Iran. Dont have Pics so Sorry Cantrip.

The culture here is very interesting with most females in Burkas etc. Everyone is very polite.

Arabian MTV is sweet ...NOT! MTVa.com if you wanna see more lol.  I did catch an interesting episode of Seasame street in Arabic.

Don't know when I'll have access to a computer next so might be a bit before I can respond to any questions here.

While you're there you should see if you can go to watch the camel races. The jockeys are either child slaves or robots, either way it's the kind of thing you can tell the grandkids ("Back in my day, I saw robots race camels against child slaves!").

Glad to hear you made it there without problems.  I know several nurses that did contract work in the Middle East and they got paid very well but were glad to get back here after a year.  It's not a lot of fun apparently to live in an Islamic state.  Their idea of fun runs more toward watching the public amputations down at the Stadium for violations of Shar'ia law.  Good luck and stay safe.  (By the way, your kid's playing Half-life on Steam -- tell him to come on over to play a little TF2 with us -- with his genetic background, he'll probably kick our asses)

And they'll be like "So? I watched a camel beat a robot in life-size chess enacted by child slaves armed with real weapons on ESPN last night."

When it comes to Islamic states, Dubai is about as liberal as it gets, I hear it's a beautiful place, and if you've ever seen the Axis of Evil comedy tour, you know it's the only place in the world where you'll get a mosque in one place, and a dance club on the other side of the street, so come evening you ask yourself, "should i pray or should i dance?"  lol

Ok time for a weekly update,

My job is easy as shit. So money in the bank for not much work at all. The area is semi secure. Driving in Kabul is Fucking dangerous though, there are ZERO traffic laws. There is no such thing as your side of the road and you pass left right or where ever you fit in.

I work with Afgani's, Russians, Nepalesse, Austrailians and people from Zimbabwie so the languages flying around the airfield is eclectic.

Driving from our compound to the airfield seems to be the most exciting part of the day.

I slotted to either stay here in Kabul or move out to one of the local military airbases. I'm hopeing to move out to the airbases as then I can hop on some birds and visit some of the forward operating bases.

Here the americans and the Austrailians run the show. The russian pilots get pissy every other day. The nepalesse pilot will fly anywhere and they took fire from the ground about a week ago from small arms. The aircrew taped up the holes and they still keep flying.

I'll try to hop on and post as mush as I can. The interwebs here can be unreliable.

FYI dont belive a fucking thing you hear about Afghanistan on TV ...I'll post more on this subject later.

Dave

Damn, good to hear from you man.

Please keep us updated. And I'm curious on the insider's take on Afghanistan.

Keep your head down and watch your six. Don't fall into the 'comfort' zone. Still a warzone, not that I need to remind you. Bring your ass back in one piece Brother.

Simply awesome. I especially like the camera idea.

As for Dubai. Make sure you partake in as many of their outrageous luxuries as you can. See if you can visit The World or The Palm. Go skiing indoors. Go to that huge mall....etc..
