Their Opening Ceremoney was quite spectacular, Apparently they have spent more than Double what Great Britan have spent for the 2012 Olympic Games. China have spent about $40,000,000,000+

LOL. I heard that china is worried because traditionally thier fans are not very "cultured" or "sophisicated" and tend to Boo anyone other than Chinese gold to the point you cant hear the anthems. They have been forcing ppl to learn generic chants so they aren't embarassed on global television by a 100k chinese fans at every event booing every competitor but thier own.

Well if I was told to act incredibly polite while under gun point then sure, I would play along. Being an asshole does not warrant being rolled over by a tank. Saw it yesterday. I think it dragged on to much and really wasnt my cup of tea. I was at the opening ceremony in 2004 and even though Im Greek I thought it was bunk. They should try to make the opening ceremonies more hot-blooded and epic. I'm tired of all this serene national bullshit. But hey thats just me maybe some people think the 2008 ceremony was the best ever. The 2004 ceremony and the 2008 ceremony were both boring. Just my humbe opinion really. I'm the leetest one here

I watched a part of the Opening Ceremoney on a HD-TV in a shop, Yes, It was visually stunning, but when I got home and watched the highlights on my HD-TV (But with non-HD input) The quality was terriable. Spending tremendous amounts of money is exactly to be expected. What better way to hide the economic problems plaguing their people than with a lavish display that they clearly can't afford?
