With the heavy update coming, there's going to be a lot of heavies roaming around. Achievement servers are also going to be packed to the gills. Will you be among them? I'll admit straight-up. Both my medic and pyro achievements were collected on achievement servers. I plan to continue doing this until the spy and engineer get the updates. How about you? NOTES 1) how do I start poll? 2) mods, if people start getting hella heated and hateful, feel free to lock or delete the thread. Safety + Peace

Nah, I unlocked all my pyro stuff on normal servers, and i've nearly unlocked the medic's last upgrade (ubersaw, is it?). But i will be one of the heavies mass-spraying people on normal servers unless it gets too noobish. I wont go on any achievement servers unless there's like ONE achievement i just cant get.

1) Somewhere... there is an option (on the left side) to start a poll I did it once... now I can't remember how...... I'll do a brain dump and see if I can get it back.

EDIT: I can start a poll in the Admin forums... but not here..? hmmm.. That's where I saw it before...

Whatever your personal feelings are on the subject of achievement box servers, you can't deny that they get tons of traffic. Perhaps we can use this to our advantage. If we set up such a server, we can text-spam visitors with reminders to play on our Tempest servers. "Hey, go to WDFNews.com for the IP addresses of our TF2 servers: Tempest #(1-7)." Or tell them to go to our Steam page and add our servers to their favorites list. We used to have text messages that would pop up advertising our servers, but since the switch, I haven't noticed any. one warning about the achievments servers: the need to be heavily admin'd when we ran it on the hax server we where banning minimum 100 a day, lots of traffic, mostly douche traffic though MakeSureItsCharcoalGrilled wrote:

Achievement servers suck. I tried going on one when we got the medic updates and left 2 minutes later. I then used an exploit that was posted on this site to instantly unlock all the medic achievements. Very convenient and saved me from playing a class that I despise. Heavy I may actually try to get legitimatly as I actually dont mind playing that class. I'm the leetest one here

NO achievement servers for me. I figure if it takes that long to get all of the weapons, I probably don't play the class enough to care anyway.
NOw that I have most of the achievements, it helps keep the game interesting to get an achievement after a crazy uber or something.
My god... when the sniper achievements come out....

umm set one up as soon as the achievements are released. They get a shitload of traffic so I would be willing to take one for the team and admin as long as I can on those servers. I played on an achievement server for pyro stuff, it definitely attracted a lot of dickishness. If we do set one up we'll need to make sure we have a lot of admins there all the time. The ability to password it as needed would be good too. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

The idea being to attract people to the Tempests, do we really want the kind of crowd that achievement servers would attract?

Private server would be good for the majority of the community, that said, unless i'm needed to admin it, I will be on the normal servers sniping all the heavies until watching heavy after heavy die gets too boring. If it's a private achievement server then I must fall back to my original sentiments seen in a prior thread discussing achievement servers... aren't we better than that? If Valve wanted people to have unlockables without some effort then they wouldn't be locked to begin with. Isn't bypassing that a bit disrespectful? And I don't know about you guys but I take pride and enjoy achieving the er.. achievements. It's really not that hard to get enough achievements to unlock everything. I got all the pyro's stuff within a day.
