Lately my D drive has been causing trouble. A couple of months ago, it wouldn't show up on startup. It would linger on detecting the drive for a few seconds then skip it and when I booted up, I look on My Computer and the D drive has completely disappeared. The problem was gone by the next day, but every so often it would happen again. Last night, I boot up and it's happened again. Usually a restart works or if I unplug the drive from the motherboard and plug it back in (which I haven't tried yet, but meh).

Anyway, bottom line, I'm sick of it. Most of my games and anything useful is on the D drive, and I'm wondering what the problem is. I can hear something in the computer clicking on startup, a sound I've come to recognize lately, so I pop open the side and take a peek. The drive is secure, none of the wires seem to have anything wrong with them. This issue has never occured with the C drive.

solutions kthx

Clicking noise=your hard drive is dying or close to death.
