Seems my lamp in my tv burned out. It's Sunday and all of JVC's "Approved Service Stations" aren't open on Sunday.

No electronics stores sell replacement lamps except Fry's, but only if it's a Mitsubishi...

What the fuck is that about?

So, I had to order a new one... Ordered it overnight so it'll be here on Tuesday. That is some shit.

Can't play games until Tuesday. Today is my day off.

Fuck that noise.

Why would you order it and get it tuesday if you can take it to an "approved service station" on monday?

Because they either require their techs to come out, which means scheduling an appointment which is not going to fly, or they sell the lesser brand lamps which I've read save you $40 but generally have half the life time.

I can wait until Tuesday. I have a temporary solution.

half the time LCD's are the better route when it comes down to it, but things you have to consider, WDF's style of TV is alot older, and some huge LCD/HDs are still really expensive, so instead of just breaking down and replacing the set alltogether, getting another lamp is the better route in this case, unless the man has like $1500 to throw at a new TV. and when an LCD breaks, its not like you can go out and get a small part to replace, when they die, they stay pretty much dead. I learned that 2 years ago when I dropped $2000 and some high interest payments on a brand new Sony and now the fucker just makes the wall look cool, burned out on me 3 months ago,

My 32" Panasonic TV went kaput, but it was still unde guarantee, so the LCD Panel got replaced for free =]

This is about right, yeah.

Not to mention I compare the quality of my screen to LCDs and mine can hold it's own. It's $200 vs $1500... and on top of that even if I did buy an LCD I'd still replace the lamp in this tv. I'm not letting it go to waste.

That's why you should have a nice television and a nice monitor. If all is well you can plug either one into anything so you always have a backup on hand.

I'll die if my monitor ever craps out. Its my baby, and I use it to make fun of my parents TV because my monitor is bigger, and they have not upgraded to HD yet. Too bad my machine is not as nice as my monitor, but I'm working on that slowly.

I've been contemplating putting the LCD behind the bar (what I'm currently using for a screen).
