I would think its just a radar system and prematurely detonates small explosives. I'd like to see what happens when you fire a medium range missle from so many hundreds of yards away, doubt it could protect that.

Haven't Humvees and transports been the major victims of RPG attacks? Seems that's where we should be putting them- not just on tanks.

Well, what we're seeing is effectively an advertisement for a weapons system. I'm not sure what problems they may have or may be having with the system. Also the cost is something to think about.

If its the same british system I saw being used...it does use radar and then a flak type projectile to intercept. I wonder how many targets it can intercept at once? if they just start shooting rpgs from both sides in tandem and it can't handle it...whats the point in the investment.

If you read the Wikipedia articles concerning Trophy and similar weapons systems, you'll find that all of them tend to be way too heavy for use on lighter vehicles like Humvees or JLTVs. "The blast pressures generated when the incoming warhead detonates would likely buckle lightly armored vehicles." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quick_Kill_active_protection_system And yes, these weapons systems are very expensive.

Which raises the question...is a main battle tank even threatened by an RPG....not really. Hellfires and Javelins yes...but who has those besides...oh yeah..Us. (or major power). Not these small arms guerrillas. Quote:
