What do we think so far? So far, I think Palin is still dripping with the juice of failure-to-properly-represent-*anyone*-let-alone-a-country. Because, at the end of the day, the reason we watch these debates on TV, as opposed to over the radio, or simply reading transcripts, is so that we can see our candidates in an unscripted environment. I don't know jack or jill of a number of higher policy issues. But I'm getting a damn good feel for who I want as the potential runner-up to being the President of a global superpower. Okay. You lose the Iraq section, Palin. The polls are showing. The people are speaking, and you are in direction opposition to that. For years, this war has been dragging on and on and on. This is a failure to recognize a basic pattern. The longer we stay there, the longer this war will drag on. You can no more "kill" terrorism than you can eradicate the world's cockroaches. A fucking white flag? That's your blind, stuttered response? This country has had its fill of bloodlusting warmongers, thank you very much. The drinking game has started. Everytime someone says the word "Maverick" you take a shot. It's going to be a long friday. Safety + Peace

According to the drudge poll, Palin won. Of course this is after a little over 100,000 votes, but I was like WTF? That woman doesn't have an individual thought in her head. She was reciting shit all night. And way to go, Biden, for not tripping that dumb bitch up. Let's bring back the Republic of Cascadia movement http://zapatopi.net/cascadia/

I am glad I did not participate in the Maverick drinking game or I would be dead from alcohol poisoning. Palin is a fucking robot. I think she had a checklist with all of her notes to make sure she hit the key talking points whenever a question was asked. Sometimes she got to check off a talking point that sort of matched the question, most of the time not so much. I can't think of one moment where I was impressed, she tried the same non-stop attack thing that McCain did but she never really connected. As dismal as McCain's performance was, he at least had a few moments. Palin on the other hand, god wtf was wrong with her after Biden choked up? So fucking classless. Anyways, she didn't fuck up like in the Couric interview and she didn't blow Biden away so by default it is instantly a tie at best which means McCain lost. I'm going to bet though that when the polling comes out on this most people will agree that Biden won. UPDATE: CBS Poll of undecided voters says 46% think Biden won, 33% think it was a tie, 21% think Palin won. Worse than I expected for Palin. McCain is probably swearing right now. Gosh whut, that post deleting finger sure is itchy! Did Palin make any gaffes? That's the only reason I would ever watch a video of the debate. I might as well just wait for the Daily Show guys to find them for me anyways.

I lol'd afterwards when I heard Brian Williams comment on facts they got wrong "Palin said the General in Afghanistan was McClellan. McClellan is actually of course a famous civil war general." TripleBam wrote:I was about to correct something but....no...it's all there.

My best friend and I were waiting for Palin to get tripped up and resort to violence. We have her pictured as the Team Fortress 2 Scout and we could just seeing her double-jumping from the podeum, landing on Biden and hitting him in the head with a bat while yelling BONK!
Suure, that would probably cost them the election, but that would be the coolest thing the Republican party has ever done. Am I right? ;D wrote:{pDs} TitaniumPhoenix: We're Mexican. Palin did not make any really obvious gaffes. She fucked up a bit here and there, the General misnaming was the most obvious and will likely get ignored like McCain saying Pakistan was a failed state when Musharaf seized power in a coup against the democratic government. She overdid her "aww shucks" cliche BS pretty badly at one point which was kind of painful. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

I've watched interviews of Palin, and She snowballs every question by simply not answering them in anyway, just saying words till someone forgets what they asked.

Now, I am registered republican...but Palin *sigh*....Everytime she talked I hold my breath because I know she is on the verge of a Miss Teen USA Moment.
She did pretty much avoided alot of the first half of the debate and just kept spitting out the John McCain message. It was annoying as hell to me and really off-putting. Even more annoying is how the media is saying oH Palin really is a master debater and really stood up the Biden. Really?! They must really think we are all fucking stupid morons. If all it takes to win a debate is the continue to put out your message in every answer, even if it doesn't apply to the question in the least...well fuck it, I am out of watching these things!
"She was on the attack" - they say....yeah well I don't give two shits about a few quips and personal style. It was rediculous to see Biden answer the question legitimately, and then Palin come back with......"Lets come back to energy". No, lets not....I want to hear your solution and how it differs from the demos. This is a common strategy with someone who doesn't want to , or can't answer the question...they just ignore it and launch into some random bullshit. Ducking questions may see like a great tactic to NBC, but to me it just kills my confidence in you.
Then they criticize Biden on not lashing back to attacks from Palin.....again...proof they think we are morons who just watch Jerry Springer. Like we are all sitting down with our popcorn..." Oh no she Did-ENT!!"
It boils down to this: Biden answered the questions...and I feel like i learned alittle bit about his position on issues. Palin answered only a few questions....mostly repeated talking points, Said Maverick WAY to many times, and didn't outline any plans. Quote:

I had a dream last night in which Sarah Palin chanted the word Maverick over and over again while John McCain convulsed on the ground speaking in tongues. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

Hearing Palin speak was painful, I literally cringed most the night. I was sure the Mc Cain campaign was in the toilet. Her speaking was on par with a college level Model UN delegate (something I was for years), not a VP candidate. Biden is an excellent debater...which he should be considering his years of experience. Not only did he speak clearly and to the point this time, but he engaged Palin on her/Mc Cain's position, backed up his information with facts, and even questioned her debating skills. Her answers were 90% fluff... But let's get a few things straight. This is the least important debate of the series. The ones that matter will be the next two. Actually, voters have historically never cared about VP debates anyways which brings me to my main point: What did the candidates need to accomplish last night? Palin: - Preach the Mc Cain message.
- Not flop like she did with Couric.
- Introduce her human side to the American people and make them understand she's part of a middle class family too.
Biden: - Preach the Obama message.
- Not sound long winded.
- Show a likable personality.
That's it and that's what we saw. I don't even think we saw a debate last night. We simply saw Biden and Palin saying what they wanted to say. I don't think it did much to affect the opinions of either candidate, thus I don't think anybody won or lost. The NBC commentators said it best, "this will be forgotten after 24 hours." get your ass to mars
