Stop pretending your creations are so grand - ohh look, I build a skyway

that's nice - you know what would be REALLY useful and easy to put in?

A cart system to go with it - so it dosn't take forever to go from point A to point B

( speaking of - guess what my secret project has been for the last week? hmmm )

Good job. I've told people in-game I'll be adding tracks to my skyway for a couple weeks now. It was planned from the beginning.

meanwhile you keep going on about how to try to make all your shit so pretty - and it's not! It's fucking minecraft man - the best beauty you can get out of the game is vaugly 8bit art - which don't get me wrong, I love the 8bit era - but pretty it wasn't.

So your excuse is that the game is only 8bit? I don't let that stop me...

sad to say, a giant penis.

It's not too bad, I mean, it was a magnificent giant penis

Sorry, no. Super Penguin's Penguin is far superior to your... "sculpture"... any day.

Lets compare.

The lavadome is the only thing that's even slightly unique - the skytowers are hardly anything at all : |

First they're slow transport and they're only barely faster then trecking it on land because most of it is over land anyway -

As for the lavadome - it's dangerous because it relies too heavily on lava light -

This is your problem - you want to say 'well blahdeblah look at how nice this looks' while having utility - which is fine - but you sacrifice utility to 'look nice' and you never bother to pretty things up beyond standard 'oh look, lava light and water falls, haven't seen that before'

meanwhile - on the other side of the spectrum - buildings that have no purpose but were just there for the sake of being looked at - we have super penguins super penguin, which was very nice and well built - but a sprite is a sprite is a sprite and

magnificence.

Also - let's get over ourselves and be honest here - none of us here have the maturity over a 13 year old, we all laugh at cock jokes, we're not going to try to be these pretentious artsy fuckers who go 'how crude!' and 'quite my good chap' because it's just not honest.

Also - "Gladymir Skyway, as far as the eye can see" getting a little majestic there? As far as the render can see - don't kid yourself. It's not that far.

Incisdently - decided to take a close look at your base, that you built onto the bridge - you know there are other building supplies then cobble?

Then again your obscene obsession with lava makes anything wood or wool related a non-possibility, however - brick. It's a little bit rare, but anything to add just a little color to your walls : |

If you want to be all durr hurr pretty then at least stop being so drab grey with your buildings - and the flowing water / lava does little to help.

And yet... better than anything you've made. So keep talking.

And they're safe, direct transport at night. And while "most" might be over land, there are significant portions over water, and moving over the skyway is faster than swimming.

Good god, man... you're effectively arguing against the concept of roads and bridges... I mean... really? And you say I argue for the sake of arguing? You take every opportunity you can to belittle others' things.

Quote:

Yep, and I'm still looking for a way to architect in more torches without it looking bad. It originally started completely underground and was only as big as the lava it stored, so light wasn't an issue until I built it to dome size and didn't have the lava to fill it completely.

The only "utility" this game requires is night time survival.
Other than that it's internet legos. So you're complaining about the lack of utility with lego creations.

What utility does your penis statue provide, exactly?

All my skyway's main towers offer community tools, chests, supplies. There's a feather farm and mob farm attached to it, complete with ground-level (even sky-level) trap alert lights--all of which anyone can take advantage of. The main junction hub's second level is an inn with beds. And I've received compliments on how the skyway looks.

I've also offered to build the skyway to others' bases to improve their community use.

Seems I've combined form with function pretty well.

So I ask again.... what "utility" have your penis structures provided?

And people can make very nice looking art with just black and white. I don't know why you think the crudeness of the engine's graphics somehow negates all possibility of things looking appealing.

Yes. Clearly we'd rather all giggle at penises and belittle people who take the time to make things, you know... nice. If that's "us" then I really want nothing more to do with this community.

That direction of the skyway is roughty 1300 blocks long and took 2 days to build, with main and access towers.
The render distance is irrelevant. It'd literally go on until its scale could no longer be rendered into pixels. Therefor... "as far as the eye can see".

They certainly don't have to, no.
That one kind of went Frank Lloyd Wright because I was trying to maximize window size on that side of the mountain top.

Incidentally... Frank Lloyd Wright is my architectural hero, so I actually appreciate that comparison. =P
My 8th grade English teacher took us on a field trip to Taliesin West. Being a Phoenician I've been able to visit several of his creations, and was able to visit Falling Water while visiting family in PA before. That's probably where I get my appreciation of water in architecture. That.. and it adds color in Minecraft.

In your opinion.
I've always enjoyed how blue works against shades of gray, which is why I like night views the most in Minecraft.

Of course... if you weren't using a texture pack with that ugly ass light blue bubble water, you'd see what I see.

That said... it's kind of ridiculous to call others' creations ugly when you're using custom textures. You're inherently seeing things "wrong".

P.S. If you're referring to Thendan Outpost, it's "carved" out of the mountain top. So naturally it would primarily be rock.

Also, learn the difference between cobble and stone. kthxbai.

Yay for failing basic forum etiquette :D

On a more serious note - stop trying to break everything down point by point - it's too clusterfucked to take seriously -

And also stop thinking that I've been spending time on the server doing nothing,

When I reveal what I make, I'll reveal it - and in fact it has two key utilities your claim to fame lacks.

Like your double post above? Two of my posts were replying to those. So... yeah.

Then stop bitching about every single thing, eh?

Okay... and if nobody has seen it it's probably not in a useful place. Plus didn't you vote for a server reset? That'd kind of ruin whatever it is you're working on.

Also, if it's tracks with always-running boosters, stop while you're ahead. Those are known to be detrimental to SMP performance.

P.S.

<Yomu> side note - it's so cute that rik thinks because he parades his shit around that it's relevent

And yet you continue to reply, claiming that what you're working on is more relevant than mine.... hypocrite much?

Plus you're the one who claimed nothing in the game can look nice. It's wrong of me to provide evidence to the contrary? How convenient for you. You win if I don't answer the challenge and I lose if I do. Master debater, you are.

Ever-running? Oh god no. What kind of crack are you smoking? It's not like it's hard to make resettable boosters.

Which again goes to emphasis my point - you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

I mention a rail system and your first thought are ever-running boosters - of fucking course that's a bad idea, it's always running - it causes horrible server problems : |

All I'm bitching about is just that - you don't know what the fuck you're talking about - if you would stop making a retarded monkey out of yourself, and start playing - or hell! at least posting intelligently, as if you knew what the fuck was going on in the game - then I wouldn't have nearly so much of a issue

Ok, no wait, I'm lieing, I would still complain because you would still feel the need to fuck with the game's mechanics. because you don't like creepers.

Edit:

Nice minetracks you're laying down there, so now you're going to start listening to me?

How many times are you going to fall on your proverbial face?

The very fact I know what ever-running boosters are is proof already that I know the subject matter. I'm also well aware of other auto-reset booster models, most of which are pretty ugly and require the recurring use of extra resources. They also typically require multi-level terrain/structures in order to reset--which lends itself to that earlier claim of "ugly".

But you just keep on repeating that I'm ignorant. I'm sure that's all that's required for it to be true.

It'd help if you posted something intelligent on occasion. Instead of 'eh, it's ugly - so you're going to have to walk for five minutes instead of ride a rail cart for a fraction of the time' or calling someone "lazy" for holding down the w button ... or holding down the w button and hitting alt, your choice really.

also proof we care more about dick jokes then we have any right to.

so you going to hold to your word and leave now? no? I didn't think you would.
