Hmm there is something up.. cause we just played dm_roaches on the Tomb a couple of night ago and it downloaded fine for everyone...

Makes me wonder if SOMEONE is not overwriting existing Bz2 files when they are dumping all the Crypt stuff into the same directory... Seems like this issue started  getting worse  when we starting getting mass crypt file uploads.. The bz2 files for the crypt and the Tomb are currently set up in the same directory. I am pretty sure the deathmatch version of dm_roaches bz2 file just got uploaded recently..

As far as the new plans for the tomb goes... There is no getting around the fact that 2fort with 5 players on CTF does not compete with the experience of playing 2fort with 20 players on DM. Players have a very short attention span and we gotta grab em quick with the new things CTF has to offer rather than just give em slower emptier games on the same map they just left on the crypt. CTF should be something more of a new experience.. not just more of the same with fewer players

Dont get me wrong.. the current DM style maps are not going anywhere.. I just want to concentrate on getting new ideas and more modern stuff out there to give these players a visual reason on why they should go through the trouble of messing with the mod.

I think the only difference is the community size.  CTF is just toooooo small of a community to expect large results from; a lot of people join CTF and play once in a blue moon because the differences are too small, and the only people that play long are good players, to noobs don't even have a chance to enjoy the game.

I see what Machinehead was doing now by protecting noobs, but I don't think that method is helping.  I admit, when I played the Crypt last night it was the most fun i've had in such a long time.  I honestly do not remember having the same type of fun on CTF (except when jasespots, Camelspit, and Jase's gf, and me all played drunk domination one time a few weeks ago).  I don't know...  we need different types of CTF maps, but as for now our own servers seem to be competing for eachother, seeing how our own members make-up most of the active players in The Tomb.

And then I wonder why the fast map server's url was changed to the one from Horde and not the new one... then I replace it with the current fast map url and the problem disapears.

Thanks to shignog for hasstling me all night till I stumbled upon the.. ahem... bug.

Props to both of you guys for really working this through, cause damnit did we need it.

No more nights of THIS hopefully:

Not that those games are bad. Just dissapointing to see only the clan members in the server. Oh well. PROBLEM SOLVED!! WAHOOOOO!!!!

Wait a minute, does that mean you were messing with the server last night? Cause there was SOOOOOOO much lag... people kept asking why there was any since we got Tempest and all...

The lag was actually caused by the logging for hlstats. I don't know why. It was happening on the DoD servers as well. I disabled it and shignog reports that it is fixed.

I just had to quit the Tomb because of the lag. Whatever was going on is still going on.
