They couldn't really go deep into the backstory for many characters, there's not enough time in the movie, plus it'd be way expensive, though I'd like to see that as well.

As far as another popular character not yet featured, it's gotta be Gambit. He was my absolute favorite when i was growing up and it would be a crime to not work him in evenutally. Rouge has a love interest in him in just about all x-men timelines, and you can see her and Bobby breaking apart, so it's gotta happen.

The film was like a nice steak that was burnt..

It was decent, not as good as the last and with noticable continuity and filming errors as well as retarded decissions.

Errors
1. Magneto moves the bridge in broad daylight but when in the very next scene it is the dead of night..  Not dusk, not just starting to get dark but pitch black.

2.  People fled their cars in the daylight, but when it is night all their headlights are on.

3. Wolverines shirt seems to have the ability to heal as well.

Stupids
1. "Killing off" Cyclops.  Ok even if it is only for this movie and he comes back in the next doing it right at the beginning was a bit ehh, though I could understand that it was ment to further the feeling of desperation and urgency.

2. Second movie in a row that they promised Gambit and didn't provide.

3. Merely aluded to the sentinals, but didn't do a damn thing about them.

4. Oh yeah that was a genius decision to have Wolverine Kabawb Jean instead of simply pricking her with a needle.  Yeah yeah I know that they needed to do it for a few reasons, but they still barrel through a wall of common sense with it.  Though I'd love to see the look on Wolverines face when he realizes that later.  AWWWW CRAP!

5. If Magneto could move the entire Golden Gate then why bother fighting when he could have crushed the entire damn facility into dust with it?

6. The movie had to wide a scope to be fit in a mere hour and 45 minutes.

7. Case in point not even touching on Wolverines backstory so that they could give a little more to us before the next one.

I could go on but I got a phonecall just now that made me lose my train of thought.

It's not to say that I didn't like the movie, just I had a whole lot to complain about.

Well I can understand why they didn't include Gambit and it's a bit retarded.  You see they would have thought that a Gambit character is a bit redundant when you already have Wolverine to fill his kickass rude crude loaner role.  Though they still had a cool dynamic between themselves that I would have liked to see in the film.

Yeah, I noticed 1 and 2 too. Maybe it just took a REALLY long time to move that bridge... of course when he dropped it it was day... whatever.

Also, when Jean is blasting Logan at the end, his shirt comes right off but his pants only get a few holes. Must be some great pants! I kinda wanted a "teminator" look with half of Logan's face blasted to his skull, but whatever.

That movie kind of sucked. Brett Ratner is a huge asshole and now I kind of sort of want Superman to do badly just to punish Bryan Singer for leaving to do it. Even though it won't make X3 any better. :-(

No fucking Gambit??? Are u shitting me?? What's X-men without fucking Gambit?? they could have had something like when he was a child playing poker with his friends and he loses a big hand, throws his cards against the wall, and the fucking wall explodes into a million pieces and the camera trails thru the hole in the wall, while focusing on the speechless expressions of the kids. How about that for a beginning to X4?? Or some of his friends bring him over to play poker for the first time, thinking he will be easy money, and when its his turn to deal, the first kid he deals to fucking explodes!!! Surprise bitch!! I make playing cards explode!!!1!11!!!!

I like the first idea and yeah Gambit was my fave too, but you see he is also a VERY controvercial character to hardcore x-men fans.  But that's a long story.

Here are some other things I found in the film:

1) Isn't Rouge suppose to be a Southerner. In the film, the actress that played her doesn't even have a hint of a southern accent. And doesn't she have the ability to fly and of superhuman power as well.

2) I don't remember the other 2 movies, but in this one, Colossus only says a couple of words in the film and is involved in the fight scene at the end but that's it. And the time he does speak, he does it with out a Russian accent. He has one of the most interesting backstory of any character and they don't go indepth, what up with that!?

3) The Jaggernaut is Proffesors X step brother and they don't even mention that in the film! They had a perfect oppurtunity to add to this backstory when both met at Rouge's house but there was absolute no mention of it. Furthermore, Jaggernaut is not a mutant. Why was he affected by the kid?

That's all I can remember, but one of the reason's I like X-Men is cause of the interesting characters and their backstories. It's just disappointing when they don't even go in depth.  And where the fuck is Gambit!

I believe rouge gets her flying/superhuman strength when she absorbs someone to death, thus giving her those powers premanently.

Juggernaght also is not a mutant, but got is powers from some crystal of some kind. His helmet, in the comics/cartoon, was to prevent Charles from messing with his mind, just like Magneto.

As for Colossus, no answer there.

My major plot grip was: WHERE IS THE KID NOW?  Ok, so we learn this kid aka LEECH is the "cure." Fine.  Then we go to Alcatraz to get him/save him.  Great.  So the Xmen go there and get him towards the end of the film.  THEN WHAT?  Where is he now?  We never learn where he went or if he was really saved etc.  Sheesh, go plot holes!

But overall, it's the most entertaining film in theatres in a while, IMO.

He is at the end of the film running up to the school and Storm lovingly ruffles his hair and hugs him telling him to get to class.

Ummmm... Psylocke's character design was pretty cool. Then she died without doing anything.

Every time I manage to come up with something I liked in the movie, it's immediately followed by something related that sucked.
