We're maxing out our machine's resources. We could experience massive lag hits if the cpu hits 100%.

If we want to continue to grow we need to upgrade.

I personally feel we have the members and following to survive an IP change...

Anyway, the other option is to get a second machine. But it's way expensive.

so that makes one? anyone else? i mean if the ES server isnt getting as much attention as the tf2 servers, i say be gone with ye

I've never experienced lag on any of the Tempest servers, even with the 4th one up last night and all of them packed solid. If we can handle 4 servers on the existing box the way we are now then I'd say don't upgrade, which is why I voted no on this poll. Can't we just throw some more ram or a better CPU into the existing box or something?

Yeah, I guess I'm not understanding exactly why there needs to be an upgrade.

The servers seem to run fine. We just added #4 to the lineup, and still performance seems adequate. If it is actually suffering (or soon will suffer), I'd think the first step would be to cut back, first #4 then perhaps ES, rather than upgrade capacity just to make them work. WDF? may play ES, but I'd rather see a community consensus on whether to upgrade just to keep it and #4 (or even expand further), or to cut those back as needed to make the existing setup work. Myself, I'd favor the latter.

Things may be fine now but if we have 4 servers that are full most of the time are we going to think about tempest #5 or 6? Also take into account that there may be mods for TF2 that will come out as well as new games we may want to host. I say since we are hot now and can most definetly survive an IP change do it now rather than when we are like we were 4-5 months ago. I say more packed servers = more donations for reserved slots, we can also pitch in as a community to make it work. I don't see any negatives here. I say do it.

Yeah, with a bigger box means we could host more tf2 servers.
