I feel bad for those who have to go to any college. I went straight into my career the night I graduated and have never looked back. I knew what I wanted to since I was eight years old and I had an aptitude in it. I'm taking an online class right now and can't even stand that. I don't know how anyone can do CC/Univ full time.. especially after 13 years of consistent school up to that point.

i feel bad for those who never went to college. it has given me time to try new things and explore life with really very few restraints. if i had gone into my initial major choice straight out of high school, i would be driving myself crazy right now. ive changed majors 3 times, and each time ive gotten closer to what i really want to be doing for a career. college has also given m lifelong friends, in both peers and teachers. it gave me time to adjust to living on my own, instead of jsut throwing m into the real world and saying "have fun." i also enjoy being able to choose my direction, as opposed to grade school where you are stuck with a static curriculum with little (or in some cases none at all) room to breathe.

if you know what you want to do, and your heart is truly set on it, congrats, as youre years ahead of most people. but you've also missed out on a wonderful learning opportunity, and the chance to expand your horizons, and maybe even find a topic you didnt know you would love.

Coming from a science background my self (working on my pHD in Chemistry) and knowing you want to do research, I would say go for the sciences, like physics, biology, or my favorite Chemistry.  Also if research is your goal expect to get at least a masters degree in your field.  If you stop at a BS you will get stuck doing monkey work, You know the job where you push a button all day, everyday for years on end.  Not anyones idea of fun.

On the plus side after you receive your BS (in chem at least) you are PAID to go to graduate school.  So thank you all american tax payers for paying me to go to school.

I plan on eventually getting a PhD in the discipline that I end up choosing.
