Like it was stated earlier....you weren't paying attention and incidently broke the law. In this case it wasn't intentional and thats where officer discretion comes in. Although he may have looked at your past record and seen (or what I assume he saw based on your attitude and frequency you just so happen to be "harrassed" by cops) a trend of law breaking acts so he wrote you a ticket.
His job isn't to debate why you got the ticket or that its unfair thats for the courts. You also seem like you want to bitch and complain more than do anything about it. You say you've fought tickets before...well...maybe you were really wrong in that case and maybe the cop is wrong in this case.
Accidents happen when people become complacent. I assume you drive that same route everyday, what about that one day a parent sends their kid to school early for whatever reason. I don't think you're "its too early in the morning!" excuse will work after you've run him over (obviously thats a worst case senario).
Based on how this was written....I reeeaaallly doubt it....

I actually am a fine upstanding citizen who votes and pays his taxes. I've only ever received one speeding ticket (besides this one). I wasn't paying attention so much as I was driving the same route I drive every day, except that the school zone had been expanded. I seriously go through the exact same routine every day, and accelerating once I've cleared the school zone is a part of that because I remember the bullshit ticket I got there before and there are always cops lurking about.
I checked on my ride home, if I had started accelerating about 50 feet further I would of been out of it, I was seconds away from not losing $270. I'm also an extremely cautious driver in the morning because I regularly see deer and have come close to hitting one on more than one occasion. So really, everything was under control. I was traveling at 30mph, I've seen bicycles go faster than that! To me the ticket seemed totally arbitrary and the cop acted like he had a chip on his shoulder the entire time. Maybe there is some bad shit in my file I don't know about, I know they've gotten pictures and video of me at a few protests awhile back, and I've had friends who have been involved in things, so perhaps I've been flagged for special treatment or something.
And yes, I am polite to pigs and do what they ask me. I don't argue beyond stating what I think is the truth, and only once, e.g. "I thought I was out of the school zone". Actually there was one time I didn't do what the cops asked, but that's because they were shooting rubber bullets and tear gas canisters my way - I count that as a special circumstance personally.
I've been in the car when various people have been pulled over and invariably if they are all mommy or are a hot chick they get a walk, shit like that bugs me. Especially when 50 feet separated me from $270.
As far as court goes, I checked and the new sign is up so besides the fact that the judge who hears traffic tickets is a worthless prick I've got the fact that I was actually in the newly expanded school zone going against me too.
As far as what I do: IT. Yes, we are all dicks.
