Just got in my new Video card! But this motherfucker eats atleast 650 watts of power and I only have 580 to give! Time to turn up the AA motherfuckers yeah! 2 gigs of onboard video ram to play with...

Here is the Powersupply upgrade I am getting. I am a fan of Hiper Powere supplies. New one is 880 watt and has an integrated and self powered 8 port usb hub...which I thought that was fucking awesome. Also has a 9th (always powered usb port) for charging phones and shit even when the comp is off.

$350 for the Radeon 4850 X2. I opted to not go for the 4870 X2 because it was going for like $550-600....Not out of my pricerange, but when I looked at the benchmarks it had minimal advantage over the 4850 x2. Im not paying 200 bucks extra for 4 fps advantage. Quote:

$168 for the Power Supply. Not a bad price at all given the power output and the fact taht it is an usb hub. Also, I fell in love with Hiper products back with the Type R mark I modular units. Sleek, quality PSU's and even the boxes they come in are these badass re-usable plastic tool boxes with tray inserts inside that hold Mobo screws, case screws, washers, mounts, all my thermalpasts, all my misc cables and adaptors. Great for Lan party emergency kits....Yeah..I know..the british actually have a couple neat ideas.

Deux wrote:Please don't buy that power supply. All of Hiper's other supplies are crap even below rated wattage and 880 would be REALLY pushing their current highend platform. The Corsair HX620, or TX750 would both be good choices, alternatively any 650w+ unit from PC Power and Cooling, the 850w Antec TPQ, or a 750+ OCZ unit.
I have never had any problems with Hiper products. I have had 2 previously in high end machines and never had any problems under load. Dunno what your experiences have been with them...but I have had great success! I also haven't read any really bad reviews on their mark II products. Most Overclocker websites say they perform well. This looks like it'll be great. For the four monitors you'll be using to play games. Safety + Peace

WTF does anyone need 2GB of onboard video RAM for.... I'd say I need to upgrade my PC, but it plays the only games I really play (TF2 and other Source-based, and WoW) perfectly well, and at 1920x1080 at that! HolyJaw wrote:In the end, everything Endyss said.

for running multiple games of DoW2 In an hour of Darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Insanity look to the madman to lead the way.

I know Giller's been jonesing for a way to finally run Crysis on the normal settings and this might just do the trick! HolyJaw wrote:In the end, everything Endyss said.

I will be able to run it at Very High settings....actually. At Ultra high I think this card gets like 24 fps or something...too choppy to play. Quote:

This would be like Naughty Dog developing a game for the PS4 and releasing it on the PS3 anyway. HolyJaw wrote:In the end, everything Endyss said.

nice buy... I am thinking about buying a 4870 x2 ... but still not sure if I want to shell that much out for it. By the sound of it, I could just go for the 4850 x2. You can get the 4870 x2 for about $460 on newegg... and the 4850 x2 for about $300 ... I guess its something to look into.
