Nova wrote:nice buy... I am thinking about buying a 4870 x2 ... but still not sure if I want to shell that much out for it. By the sound of it, I could just go for the 4850 x2.
You can get the 4870 x2 for about $460 on newegg... and the 4850 x2 for about $300 ... I guess its something to look into.
Yeah that pisses me off. I just bought it last week and the price drops 50 bucks.
And yeah I wouldnt buy the 4870 x2. the only difference is the DDR5 ram....and it gives you very marginal improvement in most of the benchmarks. Quote:

Crytek as a singular entity would be used as "Crytek is a moron," but given that Crytek may be the representative group name for multiple entities, the usage would be correct as "Crytek are morons." silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... Yes, yes, corporations are singular entities, it should have been "Crytek is a moron", my bad. I defaulted to plural because what I meant to say is "The people at Crytek are morons." Sheesh. HolyJaw wrote:In the end, everything Endyss said.

Let me know if you had teh same problems I did with getting the new Catalyst 8.12 drivers to install. Whoever wrote that installer for the 64 bit Vista package needs to get a slap on the corporate wrist. It would install the "install manager" and then not detect any hardware so it would just stop and say " HELLOOOOO I'M FINISHED NOW!" But it was a bullshit lying jerk. I spent about 2 hours trying to get anything installed...even the uncompressed drivers....nothing worked. Anything on that ATI/AMD 64 bit vista page failed. utterly.
I finally went to the sapphire website and downloaded thier 8.12 catalyst suite for 64 bit Vista...worked perfectly. Exact same files, slightly different installer. Go figure. Quote:

Yeah, I'll let you know. I know that ati/amd has had problems with their drivers and whatnot. You can control the fan speed on your card, right? Anyways, all I know is that the drivers still are not up to the standards of the card itself, meaning that theres still more of the card left to be unlocked. My card should come Monday.
