Team needs to be the classic format
2 Scouts 2 Soldiers 1 Demoman 1 Medic
Optional classes is...
1 Sniper 1 Heavy 1 Spy 1 Engineer
Optional as in map situation. You don't want a sniper in a map like cp_granary. You don't want a heavy in cp_granary, badland, or well.
Know your class and role. Pocket soldier, roaming soldier, flanking scouts, flanking/support demos Soldier's need to KNOW, not do, how to aerial and juggle, but soldiers need to be able rocket jump horizontally and vertically, and wall jumping.
Know how to operate as a team. Holding position vs attacking. Don't need to go on a rampage pushing non stop. If they have 2 down and you have 3 down, stop and hold your position and defend. If you have only 2 down and they have 5 down, it's time to push.

I'm signed up and everyone should listen to what saber suggested. You have to know your role and practice/play it at all times. If you don't then things break down and we get owned. Sounds really interesting. I've never been able to play TF2 on a highly organized/strategic level before. It helps that we have a small amount of players too, I wager. I've been playing a lot of medic in the meantime, which is probably a good thing. However, I kind of want to know what else is going on. Stuff like Saber is talking about is new to me. What would my main responsibility be as a medic? (Ok, besides healing people. :P) Is it just keeping our team alive? Giving an attacking unit that extra oomph with the overheal buff? Firefighing (literally)? Its probably a mix, but again, I'm not familiar with this level of TF2'ing. A good Medic is like the backbone to a team. Beyond the obvious things you've mentioned, the Medic provides the game changing elements that can lead a team to victory. In other words, your job is to "hold the line". A stupid Medic (the combat Medic) charges into a confrontation blindly behind anyone they see, while healing in the meantime whenever someone screams "Medic". That may work in simplistic situations with little resistance, but a wise Medic would use the advantages of the class they choose to heal to their benefit to better deal with a certain scenario on a map. Tight hallways and narrow passages: Pyro+Medic. Open area and moving room: Heavy+Medic, Soldier+Medic. Always heal wounded classes AROUND you. A Medic shouldn't be forced to run half way across a map, lightly protected, just to heal someone you're not 100% sure about condition wise. Always use the buddy system when traveling and let others know where you'll be. If you're healing a class that you know is going to be prone to heavy damage, bend your medigun beam around short corners to protect yourself while giving your ally the required bump up in health. Letting your allies take damage so you can build up your Uber faster is a somewhat feasible tactic within a controlled environment (I don't recommend this unless your in full control). Staying alive is far more important as a Medic than any other class since you're both a high priority target and a game changing class. That and since Scouts and Spies hate you, always observe who's around you and NEVER stop strafing around like a disco dancer on steroids. This brings me to my main point: communicate. Talk with everyone on the team and know what they're doing. By telling everyone (us) about what you're doing, we can defend you. True, the Medic should help move up the line when it's time to push, but it's more important to maintain a hold on the field (payload maps, espeically). Firefighting, buffing; all that good stuff, happens all the while you're occupying a legitimate space on the map with your team. If you're not acting like a leader in some way when it comes to relaying useful information about your uber status and/or field position, then you're more prone to being killed by a Spy or some random rocket no one saw coming. =P When it comes to Ubercharges, again, it's all about knowing the type of situation you're in, picking the right gun, and giving it to the right person. Kritz are for Soldiers and Demos (always). Ubers are for Pyros and Heavies. It's also very important to know how well someone can shoot/play and knowing the people you can "trust". If you don't trust someones shot, don't risk getting an uber fail -- it's rarely to never worth it, especially if you go for the Kritz. For example: I trust someone like Defiance if I choose the Kritz because 9 out of 10 times he'll land 4 kills straight, have my back, and push the line appropriately without me being forced to retreat due to unsure battle conditions (I'm not guaranteed this with someone I don't know). In serious situations where we may be steamrolled, I make sure I never move beyond my realm of comfort, and stick with 1-2 people around me. This regulates a neutral area your team can play in. There's a crap ton of strategies to the Medic, so all this doesn't even cover it. However, these are useful tactics to keep in mind always. =D DredNaught wrote:In regard to the ladies... or lack thereof: Just remember that it's about quality, not quantity. Trickster has joined the team and will be our leader. He joined us for a couple matches and I really like his strat and play calling ability. This go around is a little different. We played 7v7 last time, this is 6v6. We will only have ONE medic opposed to two last time. With that said, one thing that stood out to me last time around is how Ubers are the be all, end all. Our medic NEEDS to stay alive, whether that's retreating, fighting his way out, or preferably other teammates protecting his threats. That should be his only job, stay alive and protect that Uber bar. We are using default spawn times, so when you die (something I did way too much) 25 sec (or there about) is a LONG time to be down a medic. I have some more specific ideas for our team/medic but I really don't want to discuss them out in public.

Secret statigems, eh? I likey. Mr. 12, sounds like I already know what to do then. ^^ That sounds how I play with Drakhen. In large team situations, I usually stick to him because of the large amount of fire coming from all directions. I try to save other teammates if they're about to die, but my main goal is to keep the player who kills lots of tiny little men, alive. Useful communication on teams of 15 random people is tough. Lots of random mic spam (guilty) clutters the airways. I'll need to get used to constant tactical communication. I'm glad its not just me who thinks that medics need to be protected. When I'm an attacking class, I always view Medics as targets of opprotunity. As a Medic, I constantly get killed by scouts and spies (sometimes pyros). I'm getting better at walking around levels backwards, but under high-stress situations (i.e. deciding when to uber a teammate under attack), I can't multi-task. Those are the most frustrating deaths - I'm almost going to uber and push through a highly defended area and something kills me from behind. :\ Since we wont be playing with that very, very nice server mod where I can drop medpacks for myself...I'm going to need protection. As far as I can tell, I'm a pretty good medic. Playing with Drakhen has helped me develop lots of handy medic skills - especially how to dodge stuff while healing. ^^ Sorry, this isn't really a productive post. I'm just happy to see people who actually value my class. Maybe I'll go exploring in the internet to see other medic stratigems now. Can't hurt...I hope. Firefighing (literally)? Its probably a mix, but again, I'm not familiar with this level of TF2'ing. From what I picked up watching out team's medic play... QUICK FIX!! Because im too lazy to fix it all cause im tired when I typed this all up, when I say roaming, I mean pocket, when I say pocket, I mean roaming. lol errors >< Roaming Soldier gets first priority Top off everyone off your team first then heal both your soldiers so they can rocket jump to the middle faster on maps like cp_granary. Remember, if you control the middle, you're most likely to win the round cause you have slight advantage over them aka forwarded spawn and you control 3/5 while they have 2/5. Run around, don't stand but don't strafe off to far just a simple side to side, back and forth. The moment you stand, you open yourself up to scouts dropping in and popping in 2 shots for the kill. 2 scatter shot is all it takes for a scout to kill majority of the classes in this game (even the FAN). Main priority would be to heal, but if you have no one to heal, backtrack and spray your blutsauger if there's an enemy of course... As a medic, you seeing things that your soldier might not mostly flanking scouts and spy. Having a mic def. helps to signal that there's a scout near-by trying to get the assassination on you. Afterwards, it's up to the pocket soldier mostly but sometimes the roaming soldier to kill him before the scout kills you. Ubering at the right moments. I dislike ubering so soon where you spend 2 seconds walking to the general firefight. But at the sametime, I dislike myself for not ubering yet and most cases, my healing target died right after i hit the charge. Save yourself even if it means you have to waste your uber. A useful uber either saves people or pushes your team to attack. When I say save people, not OMG EVERYONE IS ON FIRE!!! UBER!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!! It's more, your roaming soldier is really hurt and you guys could use the uber edge to repel off the attack and begin a small push. Healing priorities Roaming soldier > Pocket soldier > Demoman > Scout > Scout Should you follow this list? No, you'll have to break it according to situations, both my soldier's are fine except one has -20 hp, but my demoman is DYING. If I miss out on anything... ask :/ I most likely have the answer to you're question. Trickster has the answers too or you can watch videos online, like how to play the medic. But don't take in all the info seriously, it's mostly just for what to do with your class. In no way you should copying how these people play. K_Buz wrote:I would like to know what that means...
