Hey pDs. Just wanna see if you guys would be up for a scrim. K_buz talked to me about it the other day. Today wouldn't work (obvious reasons), however maybe tomorrow or last this week. We could prolly use the nasal whiskers server if you guys don't have one, 6v6...maybe well or one of the custom maps, anyways hit me up on steam and give me a day, and I'll see if we can match it. Saber- Thanks for the tips. I don't know if you've actually watched me play, but I become less and less effective the larger the teams get. 15v15 and I start to just hang with one person just to keep them alive. Thats a lot of fire coming from all directions with that many people. I've been looking around for medic scrim advice, but nothing came up about priority healing. Thanks! Whats the difference between a pocket and a roaming soldier? I'm assuming the pocket stays in the thick of things and the roaming tries to flank with the scouts. You are correct. Both need to be good soldiers in general, but one needs to be able to play well with a medic, and the other is kind of like a lone wolf. Although in certain situation they will both be in the thick of things, and will both be getting healed. However, a lot of times the roaming will not be with a medic, so he needs to be able to stay alive, while picking off the enemy team. He prolly won't be able to get a soldier and medic. However, if he picks off the medic, and still dies, its job well done. [CMS]defiance - Steam: defiance018 - Xfire: defianceoby - www.constantmayhem.com

Another thing I've read is that the two main strategies are staying alive (duh) and hurting (not necessarily killing) the other team. Going for the control points are more important than killing the opposing team, so long as we push them back. The life of K_Buz update... I had been laid off for a while and a job opportunity came about two Thursdays ago. The long and short of it is that I have and will be working out of town 3rd shift remodeling a Chuck E Cheese's. The 3rd shift part SHOULD end early/mid this week, but NOTHING has been going like it should. I am telling you all this because I fully plan on scrimming before our first match. Fo sho, with CMS, and now I hear that Leon has a team too and he is interested in scrimming this week too. I will be able to let everyone know what's up and plan scrims probably mid this week. Sorry for the absence, but I hear that real life should take priority over TF2.

Pub gaming is different situation. Instead of small amount of players to take care of, you have 14 others. 1 medic healing 14 others? Never going to happen. The most you can do is just follow a person you believe can get the job done i.e. "I can kill cowards! Uber me now doctor!", "Ka-boom! Your sentry is gone!", "Mmmm1+w Mmmmmph Mmmmmph". Most cases soldier isn't your priority but I still like the soldier mostly cause it's usually Trickster. Other than following 1 person, you can (stack) and form a small raping party group where you can coordinate. Pub gaming does help you dodge bullets cause now it's many and many spam coming at your team. If you keep moving around 1/2 the work is done. You just have to watch where you're going if theres a critical rocket coming at that direction, you might need to stop. There's a nice video showing pub gaming stars vs competitive players. It's a 9 highlander team pub stars vs 6 CEVO style competitive players. It's hosted by GameFAQs and with coordination, the 6 player team steam rolls the 9 player team. Yes going for control point is important but it doesn't help when there's 4 other people surrounding you and your soldier on the point un-ubered. But your mind should be set to, capping your goal. No need for the extra 3 seconds of uber, they're all dead. Switch to the blutsauger or ubersaw and let you and your target cap the CP faster. Your uber dealt enough damage, now it's you and your soldier vs 2 other people who are weakened. You still have a lot uber left, take it off and grab the flag and run. Time is very important to CTF, you could of waited for the uber to wear off and finish the other 2 but that would of cost 5 seconds in which you could of gotten a lot of distance with the flag had you dropped it and ran with the flag.

Let me know when practice/scrim is! I can fill most of the positions, but I really suck as an engineer, spy, and sniper. Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

Maybe for defending the lruast point, but even then it seems that you'd be struggling against the inevitable. I've seen an engi be very effective as long as the other teammates understand that the engi is really just a means of slowing down the rush, not stopping it. However, this was during our 7v7 league. I played engi on a ctf map (can't remember which it was) and it was a necessity, but it was VERY frusterating.

The most you would want an engineer is gravel pit or CTF map. Gravel Pit B sentry gun on the ramp to point B from long hall way. You need scouts to suicide for metal for the engineer. Without a lvl 3 sentry gun when set up is over, it will NEVER tank an uber for 2-4 seconds.

That's why you start with TWO engie's, build, then change classes.

A sentry gun can work anywhere...On gravel pit you can easily make a lvl 3 before the time starts on B, there are 3 metal spots, 2x 41's, and a 100. I wouldn't see the point in suiciding scouts, I'd just get another engy to come along during setup. A sentry gun can work anywhere, if you need to have somebody hold back and defend, an engy isn't a bad choice. Because you aren't going to be able to push the lines with one of your soldiers holding back, and if your whole team is defending, a sentry gun is good, because either way the other team is going to have to uber in, and a sentry will take most of the damage, while your team mates kill the non ubered players. Plus it will force them to use a regular uber, and not krits, which is better for killing other players in general. [CMS]defiance - Steam: defiance018 - Xfire: defianceoby - www.constantmayhem.com

Sorry, when I said "engies would be useless in 6v6" I was thinking of maps like granary. Of course they're needed in CTF maps and most defend maps. I was thinking of offensive engineers. :P Actually, Shadow and I have been trying to be ninja engies, getting teles behind enemy lines and such. It usually doesn't work, but it sure is fun when it does. :D If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack
