Apparently there's a new squad leader this year... the show today felt... lacking. Normally our house gets buzzed six or so times by solo pilots, and a few of those are the Angel's famed "sneaks" However, this year, there were no sneaks. Zero. No surprises. They buzzed the house 1.5 times (they got close the second time, I'm calling it half) And there was no finale. They regrouped at the end... and then lined up and went home... Anyone else catch the show today?

Nope, was busy with the ped. Which by the way is still broken. That event you posted on douchebook said it was on mercer island? I thought it was at your house. I can come over tomorrow but not if it's mercer island.

I wonder how many families they could have fed if they hadn't bought the Blue Angels and jet fuel.

Handouts are never the answer to a population lacking food. Either: A) the population can't support itself in which case it should die off (support being by trade of goods for food or production of said food through farming). or B) population should overthrow those keeping them from being able to eat (such as in Haiti) Yea, I'm a harsh thought type of guy...but I also see F/A-18's going over mirimar and its a reminder of why I'm working my fucking ass off in school so I can get to a point where I'm designing the bastards. sorry, end rant, fucking jealous of not just the view, but that there's an actual tree in your back yard. All I get is fucking palm trees. Tired of palm trees. They're worthless except on a post card.

Look, I'm all for the government putting money into aeronautics. I'm a fucking physics major. I think the government should spend money in aeronautics research especially for the purpose of space travel. That said, the Blue Angels are fucking pointless. They're expensive peices of shit that fly around and do tricks. Nothing more. And we all pay for them. I don't want to pay for pointless, loud airplanes when other people in the world work 12 hour days for a bowl of soup. If that makes me a faggy bleeding heart then fuck all, stick your rod up my ass and pour me a latte. Whut, didn't you call yourself a libertarian? Why would you approve of wanton spending of tax money on pointless bullshit?

Seafair is a four day portion of the year when I become a maniacal red blooded fuck-yeah Republican. Sometimes people need a pick me up. My pick me up is the Angels. This has been the hardest financial year I've ever experienced in my lifetime, and when I'm not desperately working for absolutely no money or counting change in an attempt to pay my bills and house payments, I don't have time for entertainment. I haven't been to a movie on my own dollar in a year. I haven't gone out to bars. Shit, my own bar would be empty were it not for DCMH refilling it for us. I've been living off of Ramen for six months. The Angels, and seafair weekend, is that one show that, while we all pay for it, doesn't feel like we're paying for it unless you sit down and really ponder shit. It's something I can get behind. It's something I love to watch, and at the end of the day it's something that helps take my mind off of the real world and what's happening in my life. In my opinion, I'm glad the military does something for us that we can see. I feel better about my tax dollars going to fund an epic show like the Angels than toward two losing wars overseas. It is not the government's job to feed people. It's the people's job to feed people. If the money wasn't spent on the Angels, it'd be spent on bombs. If the Angels were disbanded, that freed up money would NOT go to feeding any hungry people, I can guarantee that. Might as well take any kick-back we can get.

But less money I have to shell out to the government means more money I can spend on charitable causes I believe in.

I lol'd at this, and am stealing it. Also, I loved watching the blue angels when I still lived up in Washington, fun times. [CMS]defiance - Steam: defiance018 - Xfire: defianceoby - www.constantmayhem.com
