yeah im trying to figure out jsut what Obama has actually accomplished. the nobel committee says that hes "changed the international climate." not sure how that stacks up to treating hundreds of thousands of rape victims.

and clinton being pissed? i really bet Jimmy Carter and Al Gore are pissed, they actually earned theirs (well carter more than gore but still).

Obama getting it is a fluke. I find it very hard to defend any reason why he is getting it, especially since he really hasn't done anything yet. This is kind of like basing a lab study off of a hypothesis rather than the test results. It should not be about diplomacy as a political figure... that's what every president does. I don't know how this boosts the image of America. People can obviously see how retarded it is for him to get this reward and perpetuates the stereotype towards America as being full of bullshit. If anything, this just raises the social expectation of our new president and the shit storm will roll in even harder if things don't work out.

The only good thing about this will be the inevitable South Park episode that I KNOW will air. Calling it now: Cartman will try to turn black in order to get a Nobel prize.

Do I think that Obama deserved it? No. I am sure that the fact the fact that he isn't a warmonger has contributed to a more peaceful world so much as he hasn't changed the status quo. And that just it? How does maintaining the status quo make you a symbol of peace?

And everybody talking about what he has or has not done is irrelevant because the nominations were set in stone less than 2 weeks after his inauguration. When he was nominated, he litterally hadn't taken a dump in the presidential toilet yet.

I am not for obama, I voted against him. In fact, I voted for Bob Barr. But I would be totally for him recieving the nobel prize if he had spent his entire term avoiding war, and actively trying to prevent them, or he had played a major roll in defusing a long standing conflict such as the conflict in Darfur. But he hasn't, at least not yet.

I dunno, Obama may have more influence on peace in the world than the guy treating rapes, but I feel that gave Obama the nobel on what they expected him to do, not what he's already done.
