I throw no stones labelled "naivetee" nor the unspoken "stupidity" or even worse "Rush Limbaugh," but I dare say that the simple comparison of mandatory health care insurance to mandatory drivers insurance will show you just how great of an impact forced market saturation can be. Now, do I believe the government should be *forcing* people to be getting health care? No, dear god no, I would tear that little piece of the bill to shreds. I think the sheep are far more likely to flock where they're prodded to go, not where the wolf drags them to by sinking his teeth into their neck. (This plan would be more popular and just as successful in the long term if people were allowed to eventually choose to participate in exchanges vs being forced to or face a fine.) But then again, Brobama-Care isn't precisely a wolf sinking his teeth in to a sheep's neck since so many people are exempt from having to buy insurance or even having to pay the fine. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... The fines for not purchasing health insurance are small, and people who can't afford insurance will have it heavily subsidized. The idea is that no one will be forced to not buy it by their own economic circumstances. I am skeptical about whether this actually is constitutional, even if it doesn't violate the constitution I think it is still a violation of liberty. I don't think the government can legitimately force people to purchase a product from a private entity. It isn't like car insurance where you must have it if you operate a vehicle in public. Everyone must have it, you can choose not to drive but you can't choose not to live. Or rather, you can but it's not a choice the State should have any coercive influence on. I think a much more rational, efficient, and just method of reforming the health care system would be to put the greedy fucks who have run it until now in prison, nationalize all health insurance companies, turn the whole thing into a coherent single payer system, and then sell off everything but the billing department. A kind of British-Swiss-French model hybrid. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

The ironic thing about this is that there is a good chance that Obama and the Democrats just passed the biggest union busting bill ever. With many of the largest companies losing tax credits and facing additional expenses, they will start trimming thier costs by increasing their outsourcing and hiring more temp and contract people. If you read some of the articles from India, this is boom time. Also look for an increase of temp. employees. Many of these large companies employ union workers.
NEW DELHI — While the contentious political battle over the new health-care law continues in the United States, here in India, the outsourcing industry is seeing it as a boon for business and is salivating over its prospects.

Oh for the love of Christ can't they for once just focus on creation and retention of DOMESTIC jobs? There's a fucking fuck-ton of Indians in that country, and an economy that's just waiting for a nuclear explosion to rocket them to the top. THEY CAN DO THIS ALONE. I'm so sick of hearing about Americans outsourcing jobs, increasingly to India. This interdependence shit is so ridiculous. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for...
