If those are the recommended, though, it'd probably run on less. Like me, you just wouldn't be able to cap out the settings. The newest parts of my system are probably 2 years old, and my graphics card is 4 years old. I'm able to play on about medium settings at 1920x1200 and only have noticeable performance hits in one city, but even there it's still very much playable. I could probably easily knock down the resolution and put a lot of the settings on max.
The game has an insane amount of content which really makes $60 a bargain. For comparison sake, I have 200+ hours playing Skyrim and am on my fourth character--and I still find a lot of stuff I never saw before. I have a combined 200 hours playing Mass Effects 1 and 2 combined, and I ran 8 characters through *both* of them, doing almost every mission every time, including DLC for ME2.
So ME1/2: 200 hours for 16 characters, everything seen, $120+ Skyrim: 200 hours for 4 characters, still a lot unseen, $60
I do a lot of game, movie, and music downloading. But I'll definitely pay for this kind of bang for the buck. I may give it a try, then. Although with Christmas around the corner I may just download it for free and buy it later. If I really, truly love a game, movie, CD, book, etc I fork over the money for it. If the creators made me fall in love with their creation, they deserve my cash. I just enjoy the 'try before you buy' mentality, to be honest, lol wrote:{pDs} TitaniumPhoenix: We're Mexican. I think I "tried" Fallout 3 before buying it, too, since I didn't have any experience with that world. But it wasn't long before I bought it, once it proved to be of the quality I've come to expect from Bethesda RPGs. Skyrim was a no-brainer for me since I've been with the series since Daggerfall. Also made it easy since my wife gave me the money for it as an anniversary gift. I didn't have enough cash on hand to buy a game for myself.

I was originally psyched for D3 but constant internet connection required and a money-mart kinda put me off In an hour of Darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Insanity look to the madman to lead the way.

I suspect Blizzard has long-term plans to integrate all of their games online in a communal manner; like allowing players of WoW talk to players in D3, and so on. To support that kind of thing it's just easier for them to require internet connections for everything all the time.

Splooged my pants. Could be cool, but then C&C4 looked cool until I played it and it was complete suck. Hopefully they stick with conventional gameplay. While it was definitely different than the other C&C games, I did end up growing to like Generals.

Back to Skyrim... on my fifth character now, which is actually a replay of the first, now that I've learned a lot about the world. Probably have 10 hours into him already and haven't even joined a side or gone to High Hrothgar yet. So much to do on the side!

Ok, you do realize that the reason your version works as well as it does is BECAUSE its cracked and pre-patch?! If you went retail and fully upgraded with Steam running it's going to be a very different experience. I'm happy to hear you like it too because at first its amazing... just get to 40+ and try balancing interest playing the game vs finding something better to do. I showed the game to 2 girls in the past week or so and they think the Dragon killing part is cool as hell, just try to rationalize dungeon crawling in this game to them and all I can get back is "Wow, that looks boring as hell.". Stunned me for a second but their critique on the game is right on.

Stunned me for a second but their critique on the game is right on. Funny how the Steam, fully patched version works fine for me. And I've seen plenty of my friends on Steam playing it, too. Dungeon crawling in Skyrim is incredibly quick and easy compared to its predecessors and MMOs. They were even nice enough to design all the dungeons so you loop back around to the entrance after you clear it. If they think Skyrim's dungeon crawling is boring, chances are they'd find any dungeon crawling of any game ever made boring. At that point I have to wonder why you think their opinion matters; they'd clearly not like playing any game of the genre for more than 30 minutes. DA:O's dungeon crawling was horrible by comparison. Uhg. I couldn't play more than 3 characters before I got so sick of repeating the same dungeons that I just couldn't do it anymore. And I liked DA:O. It just had very minimal replay value.
