If this sucks horribly I will try to rig up some ghetto fan system to keep it less hot, and maybe underclock it a bit too. Whatever it takes!
Why not just buy an aftermarket cooler? I got a big-ass Zalman cooler (http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q2/zalman-vf700s/index.x?pg=1) on my 6800GT and everything stays nice and quietly cool. I assume you've got an AGP bus (Ti4200)? If so, look for a card on eBay. With everyone upgrading to PCI-E there are a lot of good deals out there.
I have both AGP & PCIe - I looked into an aftermarket cooler but everything I found explicitly said 6600gt AGP wasn't supported. I found a PCIe 7600GT for $110 after mail-in rebate. Considering that the coolers I saw were $30+ it seems a good deal. EDIT: So it looks like that cooler WILL work on my 6600gt (LeadTek). But I'm not sure if it's worth it @ 30 +s/h when I can get a whole new (and better!) vid card for 110. Tough choice! Anyone have advice? Is a 7600GT a big enough upgrade? Is it more cost effective to spend 30 to keep my 6600gt chugging along for another year or two before upgrading it? Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

I'm mostly agnostic, I have a fairly negative image of ATI based on 5+ year old experience that probably isn't relevant anymore. Not sure if I can wait a month, but I'll definitely keep it in mind :) Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

I have 2 7600gt oc in my rig they work great. When I first fired this rig up for the first time it was only only working on one card! And I was getting 130+ fps with a 90 + ping. I payed 150.00 two months ago so 110.00 is a good deal !
